Would someone be willing to use and abuse one of my knives?

I'm looking for a third party to take one of my knives out and beat on it.

My first knife I posted here had zero consideration for ergonomics and fit/finish, so I'd be making a new one for this.

I'd want someone who's really going to give it a workout. My biggest fear is I'm going to make a knife that fails. I don't particularly need it pounded through a block of concrete or anything, but I want you to use it hard and don't worry about breaking it.

Timing-wise, I hope in the next couple weeks I'll have another one done. Then assuming it's not a failure, I'd be ready to send it out then.

I'll pay the shipping of course. I would hope whomever volunteers would put a decent review with pictures up.

Thanks!

Whatcha want done? You lay it out and I am sure I can help you out. I use my knives a lot in the kitchen and for starting fires, gathering fuel, etc. Some landscaping work too. I don't hunt so can't help you there.

Now there's an offer that won't be around long!

Wish I was over there!

I'd love to, but I don't own a digital camera, so couldn't help you out with pics. Someone's gonna have a good time with this one though.

Nothing big. I'm just a firm believer that you can't test your own knife. I'm making these with a camping/hiking/survival mindset, not a hunting mindset. I'm not a hunter either, and don't know the first thing about what a hunting knife needs.

Well send it up here! I will give you a blunt review with the regular things I use a knife for, since I don't shoot at my knife like Jake, or chop through anything other than wood or food.

I'm interested. I own mostly Busse knives and I beat on them (but not abuse). I would give a full photo review. Always looking for good hard use knives.

Didn't notice, at first, that your from Chicago. I'm in the NW burbs. We really have to get that Chicago Knife Guys outing together.

I'd also be willing to beat on it after others have had their chance. Batoning, notching and general fire starting are some things I could do.

Cool, thanks guys. Between the few I got already, I think I'm all set.

Now I just have to go make the thing :)

Edit: Ya I might just do a pass around. We'll see how proud I am of it, to determine if I want more than 1 other person to see it, lol :)

Seeing how good your first one turned out, I am looking forward to seeing your next knife

If the tester is going to post pics, then you can't keep it a secret for long. We are ALL going to see it:D

If you do decide to do a pass around ( before classes start back) I'd love to get in on it. I'd actually have time to use it and take pictures now that classes are over for the spring.

David

I'd be more then happy to beat on your knife and post pictures. :D If you do a passaround, I'd love to be in on it.

I've yet to participate in a passaround, but I'd love to make yours my first!

I mostly wander in the woods, forage, cook and practice survival skills. I'm sure I could give your blade a decent workout. Let the knife abuse begin!

We have a Chicago Area Group that Brian T got going. We don't use it much. Not sure how to join, but here's my link to it:
