Would someone be willing to use and abuse one of my knives?

If I had a digital camera I would be in on this. I don't want to take away from someone who can have pics! Looking forward to this one!

Darn it...got here too late lol.

Nah. If I deem my next knife to not be complete crap, I'll probably do a passaround.

Disclaimer: If the first guy says it's the worst knife he's ever used, then we'll just call that the end of the passaround :p

Howdy, Cool Offer!
My wife and I am heading up to northern Idaho in two weeks. We will be up in the big timber country mining for star garnets. My Camillus Becker Campanion would love to have another "companion". I can guarantee a fair, tough, and objective test with pictures. E-mail me at agiftoftouch@netscape.net
Thanks, Kelly

I to would like to get in on a pass around. But I dont want it untill around Oct. Begining of bow season. I will put it through various tests then including butchering a deer(I hope)

I know there is someone around here that enjoys slamming them into old rusty Fords and shooting them. But then he loses them so he won't work.:D

If you'd do a passaround up Canada way, I'd be happy to torture your knife with various wood chopping and stabbing tasks.:)
I know it's usually only a USA thing, but fixed blades get through Customs just fine.

I started it today. Assuming I don't screw it up, I should be ready to go after the weekend.

I'll get a list together and post it up here. Anyone want to volunteer to go first? I've never done a pass around, so I don't know how the rules usually work. I guess we can just keep this real casual. Get the knife. Use it. Take some pictures. Send it on. Write a review.

Do you guys usually work amongst yourselves to get addresses and whatnot? Or am I suppose to get them all and provide everyone with the address of the next in line?

Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to this. I hope the thing makes it all the way through. Remember, this isn't a knife destruction. I just want it used, used hard, but just used. I'll let J stick to shooting other folks' knives. :)

Good luck with the knife making! Saw your first attempt and it looked great! If you ever want to send it to a more dryer place south of the equator please send me and email!

Take a look around at the various passarounds in process or that have been completed. Although casual seems like a good way to go, it appears that implementation of some rules is necessary in order to keep someone from sitting on the blade for eternity. Many makers also enlist a forum member to "run" the passaround in order to keep it moving. This person generally coordinates the passaround order, addresses/contact info, etc. To minimize time between participants, a list could be tabulated so that the knife is always moving in one direction (i.e. east to west). You should also require that the knife be insured for the minimum amount you'd want if it disappeared during shipping. I'm sure others will chime in with suggestions as well.

I am willing to oblige. I have a camera will work timely. I am a field worker in the irrigation industry. I engage in de-animation of cardboard boxes. Hand to inanimate object blister package combat, and some wood working/home improvement to keep the Dr. away. Please consider me for suburban wilderness survival knife testing. I would be honored to help.

I'm just a firm believer that you can't test your own knife.

Please don't take offense to this but I have to completely disagree with your above statement. Letting others test your knives definately helps, but by you using your knives daily, it will help you improve your work alot more then you think. By using your knives daily, you can see first hand where the weaknesses and strengths are. Use it for everything you can think of, in the kitchen, yard work, cutting up cardboard, rope, whittling and so on.

I have a pass around going on a Fenix LD10 right now. The way I did it was to PM everyone just the person's name/address that they are supposed to send it to. You need to include insurance amount and how long everyone can use it. There are also BF rules for pass arounds, and I posted the link to that as well.

Hope that helps,
BBT

Oh I'm with you. I just want some outside opinions. I'm already guessing that people are not going to like the handle I've done on the one I'm going to pass around. It fits my hand like a glove, but if your hand is much bigger than mine, it's not going to be very comfortable.

.... plus I want to know if everyone thinks it's crap or not :D

Check out the fiddleback woodsman passaround thread in his forum. It has rules described.

Dont forget to MAKE IT CUT. If durability outweighs efficiency, you no longer have a knife at all.

if you want it tested in the middle of bc, canada, i am in the bush everyweekend and a few times through out the week. i have a camera as well so, if you would like it tested out here, just let me know.
