Would someone PLEASE explain the "zombie craze"?

Me too. What's worse is someone who will parrot back what they HEARD about some piece of art, never actually having done any thinking about the art in their own way. They totally miss the point of art IMO.

I simply enjoy the movies for what they are and don't project any personal interpretations of my own onto them. I simply mentioned what George Romero himself has stated about what HE meant his first two movies to symbolize. IMO, art is also out there to be enjoyed or interpreted in whatever way the consumer of it sees fit.

I compare the zombie survival craze to winning the lottery: people like to dream up scenarios where they can do whatever they want, even though that scenario will never happen. 'What would you do if you won the lottery?' = 'What would you do if a zombie outbreak happened?'. The only difference is that people don't need to win the lottery to prepare for a fantastical zombie outbreak, they can already start preparing thus giving them something to do that keeps them busy and feeds their fantasy.

but that already exists.....it's called:

Thank you.

I think that the ZOMBIE craze is silly.

I do remember a couple of years ago when HORNADY came out with Zombie Ammunition.

Example:

http://www.hornady.com/ammunition/zombiemax

It did not interest me and I did not buy any of it.

FEAR SELLS in all things. Fear sells and the SNAKE OIL SALESMEN sell it to gullible people. People who look under their bed for the latest boogeyman.

I had some other thoughts about this ZOMBIE issue or close to it but it belongs in another thread!

I think that some of the old castle, storm, b/w movies were okay from the 50's but NOT all of them or all of the time. Watch it once - take it or leave it - a few minutes or the entire movie.

Some of the NEW stuff that is OUT there when it comes to some books, films and boob tube shows are downright nasty in my opinion. Who would WANT or allow their children or teens to watch some of that garbage?! I only READ what some of this was about and I did not see it. Twilight and some of that other stuff out there that I can't remember all of the names now.

I did SEE a clip online about a famous show that was on TV that people raved about. I could not handle it or get much past the first few minutes because it was disgusting and stupid to me. Your mileage may vary - no problem.

I think that IF you let that STUFF in your life and I am not talking about a mystery now where the GOOD GUYS WIN IN THE END... you are tempting things that should be left alone. Your mileage may vary!

And yeah, BEFORE I was 65 years old and now that I am 65 years old... I LOOKED at some old, famous, classic war movies, some other famous, classic films and books that USED TO INTEREST ME but NOT all of the time and MY personal VIEWS CHANGED about them over time too.

Cate who was NEVER into Zombies at any age.

PS: There is some famous author that is on the NY TIMES best selling list quite frequently. Many people love her books. She is a VERY confused woman if you ever read about her personal life. To each their own. Maybe she dealt with her own demons in her life or she was into some DEEP MENTAL do do when it came to her STORIES about this type of STUFF.

ADDED MORE and typos.

It ain't about fear:

People put WAY too much though into it, and get all serious about things.

Of course, I also stab Hitler...

Took the Hitler targets to the range with a guy from the university one time.
He said he didn't want to shoot Hitler...didn't see the point.
I told him that I don't want to be around anyone who doesn't want to shoot Hitler. :D

If you watch the walking dead as more of a training film...then you'll get it.

Don't laugh, there's some measure of truth in that. The Walking Dead was one of the first zombie media depictions that showed the real importance of having a stocked set of proper tools on hand. Everybody immediately focuses on guns, ammo, food, and water, But how many people stop and contemplate the importance of a good metal file, or a set of bolt cutters, or even a complete socket set?
