Would This Makers Mark Be Too Complicated?

You can make it how you want.

I like this one, assuming it could be etched on a blade. Did you come up with it yourself?

I second something like the Spectre symbol (SPecial Executive for Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion). Maybe use the letters you were thinking about including as an acronym for signifying something you want to say.

If was was starting a knife business I would consider a stamp instead it`s cost effective and lasts a long time. you get copies in 3 size and your good to go.

To me, a logo like that is pointless. It's simply a vanity mark.

Part of the reason you mark your product is so that others will recognize it easily, and associated with you. Hopefully with good work and good value and craftsmanship as well. That logo says none of those things.

Back in the 70s when I started my second company I was stumped when trying to come up with something clever to call it. At that time I was sitting with a bank president that told me half jokingly and have sincerely that I might as well call it after myself as everyone would know when I screwed up anyway, so they might as well know when I did something right.

So my name went up over the door, on the stationary, and all my trucks just before "Construction, Inc.". So everyone associated with my product knew exactly where it came from and how to find me. That was great advice many years ago and probably still is today. Knife making can be a very personalized product and purchasers of edge goods seem to be quite attached to certain people.

So why not put a logo that is perhaps your last name, a play on your name, or something like that the help promote your business? Seems like a waste if one of your knives is passed down through a couple of hands or sold once or twice and somebody wants one just like it only to find the only clue to identifying the maker is some unidentifiable scrawl.

Just my 0.02.

.....the design I came up with is ...made ...by taking letters from the names of some of my best friends,

So its an interesting design to study.
Butt its likely that most folks
just aren't too particularly interested
to decipher things that take more than
a second of their precious time.
So, would those letters spell
kyre
mozz...
???!
Art can be anything.
Bare in mind that
a logotype's (being made up of letters)
job is to aid
with quick and easy
visual identification.

redsquid2 redsquid2 , I see some of your knives has a mark, something that looks like this...

Is it what you are using at the moment ???

Yes, that's it. I usually engrave it after heat treat with a diamond-coated rotary bit.

I do not have acid etching gear, but I would like to.

I doodled a couple of drawings and shrank them (picture below). These are logos I would seriously consider. The one in my original post was just a joke. I was pulling y'alls legs but I think a lot of people didn't get it. Anyway, I appreciate all the feedback.

No joke this time.

The scale is in inches. Are these practical for acid etching?

I can give it more Squidly lines if I work it a bit more.

Now you're cookin'. If it was me (and I have no idea what I'm talking about at the best of times) I'd go with the one in your avatar/one on the right. Looks kinda cool.

Take the beginning big letter and ending big letter add the symbol next to the last one tilt and stylize it a bit more and it’d look great. Would remind me of runes

I like them both, with a certain preference to the first 1...
I also quite like the one someone else posted of a tattoo he made for his Gf...

But, that's still too big...1"x1"...y...your logo/makers mark should be at most 0.2"x0.2" I'd say...but it all depends on the size of the blades/tools you make/create...if it's a sword, 0.8"x0.8" might be okay...

Anyways, maybe scan a bigger version (big but as simple, and make your lines as precise as possible, that way when you shrink it it'll look really good!) of the 2-3 designs you have and then scan them on a relatively good scanner (a professional one is better, but it's not like I'm assuming you are rich, or that you can find one available somewhere...maybe a "print/copy store"...) and on the computer shrink it by % or by size in Inches if possible...Photoshop is able to do that, but then again, do you have it? (Because the best would be to use a Software like Illustrator, or Photoshop but it's easier in a program like Illustrator that's made to create Vectors only...) to trace and vectorize your logo(s).That way you can size it up and down without any lost of quality.)

I wish you good luck and if you need any help, I used to be a Graphic Designer & Web Developer, and I also loved making Logos and Stationary Design (Cards, Envelopes LetterHeads), so don't hesitate if you need tips or tricks.
P.S: (Though I can't really guide you in the apps since my Movie/TV Shows "addiction" has taken so much space on my PC that I've had to clear up most Applications that took a large amount of storage, so my Adobe Creative Cloud License has been shut down for a little While...
But I know that they have tons of new apps for your purpose(s)...
Like Photoshop Sketch or Adobe Spark (Quick graphics), Capture (Color Themes/Vector Graphics/Patterns/etc from an image), and Illustrator (to fix/ameliorate what was created by Adobe's AI)...

Anyways, Good Luck with it all!
Fred.
