Would you carry a knife to a funeral?

its going to be in your pocket, or on your waist. who's gonna know unless you flash it.
i see no reason not to.

Wouldn't not. Always do. Where ever, how ever. It's what I am/do. Weddings, Funerals, and Retirements will get the fancier models... just because it probable won't see any hard use, but I always have a knife with me. Suit and tie calls for a dress knife that won't pull your pocket down so much. Just my humble opinion though... hell, at this point in life, anyone that knows me will ask what I am carrying at any such "adult" type dress-up occasion. Usually have my Spyderco Tie Clip as well, either in Stag or Abalone

Why not? Is there any reason that you shouldn't?

Of course, as mentioned previously nothing obvious or ostentatious.

Sure why not, but it would be the absolute last thing I'd be thinking about. Anyway, if it's a big enough deal to discuss it, why not just leave it at home?

I carry at least one pocket knife everywhere I go except where prohibited (airports when traveling, clubs, etc). I attended my mother in law's and a good friend's father's funerals late last year and carried at both occasions. I also carry at least one small LED flashlight everywhere I go. They're both part of my EDC including my watch, wallet, etc.

As others mentioned though, if carrying, use with discretion.

You guys realize that funerals are one of the most likely places to encounter Zombies. I would carry a Busse AK47 or at least an Al Mar Alaskan Bowie.

I carried my pocket knife to my grandfather's funeral when I was 13, never thought about it at all, I always carried, even in school (1970's). No one needs to know unless it becomes needed for some task, then they will be grateful if handled with some sensitivity.

I did at the last one and I'm glad I did. They asked if anyone had a knife to cut something.

I recently was at a funeral and I WISHED I HAD BOTH THE KNIFE AND A FIREMAKER. I usually carry that stuff everywhere I go. Now I had none of them with me and just then I needed them both. Believe it or not, none of the participants had a lighter or matches so we were unable to light the candles. One of my friends then walked to a nearby 24/7 shop to buy a box of matches. There were also some flower packages, closed with a cord and a mission-impossible-style knot. I ended up tearing them open using my car key.

A lesson learned the hard way, NEVER leave home without the essentials :)

I always carry a knife unless it's against the law. When going to funerals, I wouldn't grab for my BM 710, Rift or AFCK, but rather something smaller and slightly dressier like the BM 921 Switchback, 943, Kulgera, or Small micarta Sebenza Insingo.

I follow Gibb's rule #9 religiously....As long as I'm in an area I can legally carry (ie not in an airport, etc) then I do so......

I've carried a pocketknife most every day since grade school.Sure I'd have a knife on me.A small traditional,or a SAK,would'nt be out of line.

I probably wouldn't carry a clipped knife; a low profile slipjoint would be my choice.
