Wow I can't believe SOG removed my review, just because they have bad customer service.

Your first mistake was thinking their “reviews” were anything more than a marketing ploy. Lots of companies probably do this whole “we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing” thing. Best to place reviews with a neutral third party like a distributor (BHQ, Knifecenter, REC, etc.) Reviews moderated by the manufacturer are assumed to be biased out the gate.

This is exactly the type of bs that happens when a large company (GSM) buys up a bunch of smaller knife companies and only cares about the margins and quarterly earnings, blatantly throwing customer service out the window. I cannot emaphasize this enough, if you like SOG and Cold Steel, go buy all the pre GSM knives you can…. It’s all downhill from here unfortunately. I can’t imagine being on hold for 15 minutes, much less 2 hours. I believe the OP but I’m going to call tomorrow and see what happens. Unacceptable!!!!!!!

I can think of a few retailers and manufacturers (not just knives) who do the same thing, making product “reviews” less than helpful, and reviews on their customer service (or lack of) not helpful at all.

Find good companies that offer good products and good customer service and support them.
Hopefully, the process of weeding out takes care of the others.

I don't mean to advocate for this particular devil, but I submitted an online review for a product (completely unrelated to knives) that I was disappointed in and returned, and it was rejected because I mentioned the cost of return shipping (deducted from the refund). Their rules did say not to mention price (because prices change), competitor products, or customer service. All because they want you to review that product, and only the product. And that's understandable. Maybe SOG has similar rules?

Yes, quite annoying when you read a review on a knife business of a particular knife and it's all 'the shipping was perfect, great to deal with XYZ' but zero info about the knife.

You didn't review the knife.
No he didn't, BUT reviewing the purchase experience as a whole IS valid in this online world.
When buying online it is helpful to know that people had positive or negative experiences.
I, for one, do appreciate knowing what people experienced regarding shipping speeds, customer support, problem resolution, etc.

You didn't review the knife.
Isn’t the experience purchasing a knife worthy of consideration for a “review”? I mean, they don’t have a “review our customer service” option so the knife purchases should be all-inclusive. If the McDonalds employee cussed me out and throws a milkshake at me, are you going to say “you didn’t review the cheeseburger”?
