It boggles my mind how this can happen.
I own one Buck 120 3 line not mint $20 at the local flea market.

A solid case for "A fool and his (or her) money are soon parted."

Now all the seller has to do is collect ...

The photos all used a camera angle that distorted the blade shape.

I bet the seller never collects. The buyer will have remorse once the heat of the auction wears off and will either renege on payment or return it "not as described". The problem with eBay is it always sides with the buyer, right or wrong.

Maybe they knew who owned it and had to have it for personal reasons. Or maybe money is no object. I don't know. It's beyond me.

Two bidders just ran a generic 1986 Buck 120 up to $838.99. Not even with a box. There were 55 bids. The 3rd place bidder dropped out at $179. Pretty sure an auction link is allowed if it is not active. Personally I saw it as a $100 to $150 knife. (and I'd want a nice box at $150)

Let's see if they actually end up paying for it, without a hassle for the seller.

I wonder if someone thought it was rare because the blade material is falsely listed as carbon steel ?

Sometimes the auction turns into an ego contest. A few years ago I had a $20 24" paki made display barlow that wound up selling for $550. I threw in a nice box and a leather Chamois :D
If I had a nice old 120 with a box I'd list it as a buy it now for $750 to see if I could catch the under bidder. After all he would save $50 plus get a box.
Knife selling is like horse betting. Everybody brags about their winners but keeps their losses to themselves.

remarkable!
and the seller had also mentioned his intention of listing some 200
more knives from his collection...
I sure would hate to see some newbie post here about his amazing $800 catch.

The listing said it was "micarta". Were they referring to the spacers? Was just wondering if someone would bid that high thinking they were getting a micarta, not phenolic handled knife?

Never mind. Down in the write up it states it's the spacers. Quite the write up / description.

You have to give it to the seller, he really romanced that knife in his description. OH
