WOWZA!!!!! Buck 120 sold for $800+

Doesn't mean he read it. 800$ for 120 not dealing with the Mensa society here.
Have you ever bought something worth $100 for $800 and not read the description? It wasn't bought and those weren't real bids.....

One scenario, Guy has nice 120, lists it on eBay with no intentions of it selling(really selling, which implies getting paid, not just a green ended listing showing sold), but lets make a show of this, lets make it so believable that people will talk pages about it, all he had to do was use his wife's and cousins bay accounts to shill it right up to $800+,..... same guy brings his 120 to a knife and gun show 2-3 weeks later. Any one who even looks at it or shows any interest, the guy right away says, you might not believe it, but one of that same model sold for$800+ a couple weeks ago on EBay, and pulls it up on his phone to prove it, then tells the looker, his is for sale at less than half, asking only $300.

So far........this is the only theory that even seems possible.

Anybody who would spend over $800 would certainly know how much the item is worth before bidding that high.

So I agree that it must have been faked for some reason.......unless there's simply something about that knife that only two guys know.

:D

Of course there's always the possibility of a loving wife buying it.

She thought she was getting her Buck collector man a real treasure for his birthday.

I see a marriage that is now profoundly troubled.

It might not be legit. Maybe he was unable to withdraw the knife and bid on it himself via proxy. Maybe it was money laundering. Maybe some other scheme. Not everything is as it seems.

That said, these things certainly do happen sometimes.

somethings fishy there--look at his sold items he sold the same 120 on decemebr 23 for 265 dollars--no feedback--don't always get em --but--something aint right.....

This is the best clue..........this was the second sale of this knife.

It hasn't shown up yet on either the sold listings or completed listings.

I would like to see if payment will be made. The seller might be in trouble, I don't know, his main description refers to the 120 as a 12", once inside the listing he has said 12" several times and 7 1/2" a couple, that's all that feebay needs to let the buyer off the hook...It could be also that it shows up on his seller overview page and he may be close to going up a notch in seller level and that gives you better discounts, percentages when selling. Which can go from 0% to 10% sometimes more, which could mean big $$$$? That's what I think this is about, Fees.

But, I don't know, it's sure suspicious. I, like Bert, looked at the overall sales and it wasn't there?

We must be looking in different places. I searched for 'famous buck 120' in completed auctions and both showed up. About fees.... I don't sell on eBay but aren't there final value fees to be paid? The more it sells for the higher fee to be paid?

Yes, the seller 'classed' up an ordinary knife but I do think it was an honest description. A lot of negative speculation but my gut votes this is a legit seller running into goofy buyers.

It's easily found in both the sold and the completed listings.

As for the length........knives are commonly described by overall length, so that's not a problem......especially since he clearly states that it has a seven and a half inch blade.

heck ya 12% feebay fees and then bout 3% paypal fees if payment made...the feebay fees stick unless transaction is canceled between the 2 parties..shills!!!???? ha:):poop:
wunder how many more times this knife will sell????

I doubt he sees his money. Sometimes a person will get on there who is a fake bidder and really jack up the prices and disappear.

But the second bidder had to take it almost as high. It took two to tango.

It depends on what level you are at...I'm Top Rated and have less than 50 items listed...The big sellers pay more for the volume they have listed...It's kind of a Marketing Fee...The final value is a rip off because it includes the shipping, that's why you see such differences in shipping costs...Some sellers tack on a hidden fee in the shipping cost to offset some of the Finale Value Fee. My Finale Value Fee is 14% including PP...

Edited; Removed inaccurate info on fees...

You have to use the word famous otherwise, it doesn't show up...DP77 is right, look at the other 120, something is fishy. The other 120 is by the same seller, pictures, and description...
