Chris, that is so incredible it approaches the absurd. Talk about a cool hamon!!!!

How did you do the quench? Did you end up using satanite, or did you try Rick Barrett's stuff?

I just got done yelling about another knifemaker not charging enough, and now you're going to hear it:

Your work is worth more than you're charging! Someone's going to be stealing this from you at that price.

Really, man... nice work!

thanks don!

Matt,
it was an interupted quench, in... 3 seconds out 3 secnds back in till cool. i got some of the stuff Rick uses and it is really cool... it is totally differnt very plasticy and.. it dries with a "skin" real fast... but it is good stuff

*slinks off to a corner* hey man it's all cool see... i didnt put it any higher casue i thought i was asking kinda high as it was. so *whispers* should i edit it and change it? *laughs* this one is good where it is... the next one i will try to adjust accordingly.

thanks man!

crap!
i just put the resin on the silk and it is now like... black. *sniff* all the color is gone. if it stays black i am gonna take it off and re wrap it. i liked the red.
we shall see if it stays black or not
~chris

it'll probably stay black or if not really really dark red....damn resins! they always darken everything! Bitchin bitchin blade I must say! That Hamon is like OMG beautiful!

nice blade. I think the pricing is just right, not sure if higher will necessarily be a good thing - there's a fine balance. love the hamon.

really classy looking and has a nice handle shape. But you better watch out, I think it has a mind of its own- It is trying to point towards the kid on the computer!

*laughs*
yes it did lighten up to a dark red... so the resin is alright... i still like the natural look.

i used back furnace cement for the clay, as recomended by Rick Barrett.

thanks for the comments on the hamon.... i just got it on the low end of critical. it turned out cool.

oh and spyken, i love your avitar... i know where you got the pic... great site... i do alot of "research" there

thanks!
~Chris

Man MrPurple is correct on saying you should charge more I see some knife makers who charge to much and I don't think it's worth it but on that knife if I had the money I would love to buy that knife. Mad props on that knife it's awesome I can't think of anything else to say.

Very nice knife...................

I'm still trying to grok the deal with hamon lines.

Also

I'm dying of curiosity. What website did the logo come from and the research get done at?

Syn

hey!
i saw pictures of that sword on a website, that has lots of real old (and some new) traditional japanese weapons. i dont have the url on this computer but i'll edit this post when i get home and put it in
but i think that the best way to get good is to study the real McCoy... so i do alot of looking on there to see what kinda stuff is done there.

spyken, you mentioned bonji and horimono.. so much for my "research" what is it you talking about? *totally humbled* in my simple way, i just liked the sword. *grins*
thanks!
~Chris

Horimono is the carving on a sword and bonji are the characters sometimes used in that carving.

wow! thats really cool.
i liked the "lotus" looking symbol in the avitar.
oh...
and here are the pics of the resin coated handle... i dont like the color nearly as much... but it is 100X more resilient to the elements
do you think it detracts from the whole?
