Wrapped rayskin W2 tanto with double hamon

Nope... I still think it looks great! It certainly darkened it, but it isn't too dark. Can't get over the hamon...

The resin gives it a worn look of sorts.. think it'll grow on you after a while, pretty good effect actually.

Agree with spyken regarding the pricing. Very fine balance though, but your call at the end of the day..:)

Nice work, very nice in fact, just that I personally prefer more substantial blades... the tantos that you did a while back were really good as well..

Keep the nice blades coming..

thanks guys!
that hamon is rather interesting huh matt? it didnt follow the clay at ALL it was way up on the spine... i was at about 1400 when i quenched it (per Don Hanson's example) and it turned out cool... but different than i expected.

i do like hte resin look...but i like the original too. it is certainly more resilent. there is a prospective buyer... and he wantso to take it to iraq.. so i am glad i put that resin on (giving him a discount too) plus making a teklok sheath. sounds cool to me
(he is gonna pass it by his wife before he commits)

and i am working on the pricing thing... slowly making a name for myself.. and keepig those blades coming
thanks guys!

At first it didn't strike me as a desert warfare knife, but im sure the buyer will love it.

I would suggest not using such nice stuff like silk or cotton if you're just going to resin coat it. After you spend all that money on the ito and then it's resin coated, might as well just use polyester or nylon lacing. It will actually absorb the resin more evenly and make the handle look more uniformly colored. Still a few beautiful job Chris. You can buy polyester or nylon flat braid cord for like 35 bucks for 144 yards + 10 bucks shipping handling. Just my 2 cents. Very excellent and beautiful work you do. Oh and since it's basically made of oil, you can pretty much make the end knot of your japanese wrap look like it has vanished with a piece of metal rounded end and a mapp gas torch.

If you haven't already tried it, West Systems Epoxy is da bomb and works very very well. 105 resin with either 207 or 206 hardeners. 207 isn't that great for white colored cord as it cures amber, but on black, blue red, etc etc, it looks great. Plus when that stuff if you've only put a coat on, it appears as if nothing is on the tie at all. might also work for the silk wrap better.
