Tell ya what, Red Scorpion. I live close by to you and belong to the Gateway Area Knife Club and we just happen to be having a knife show in St. Louis in a couple of weeks. January 28-29 at the Carpenter's Union Hall on South Hampton. How about bringing one of these knives to the show, so that we can check it out in person?

I'd love to see this knife. Do you mind if I ask who does your heat treating and who is actually making these?

That's a fair offer and those are good questions. The seller told me that he is the manufacturer, but said nothing about heat treatment. (Then again, I didn't think to ask.)

some were out of 0-1 from the looks of his website..............

Guys you are coming at me like you are school bullies egging me into a fight. I told you before we are moving operations to MO and we are in process of move today. I have no problem testing the fortitude of my knife. Personally I like to see it put to the harsh of tests. But cut me a little slack here. This web stuff is all new to me as it is and I am moving this week and next. Unless you are ready to lend a hand SHUT UP. I told you already I am more than happy to give a FAIR HONEST TESTING. Damn, You guys I am not challenging anyone here I just have started selling the thing. It either holds up or it's junk in yur eyes, let's review it. But we have our trade secrets as some of you do. I won't reveal all of this because of someone armchair quarter-back is coaxing me into pissing match. You want to work this out on a professional level we can otherwise don't buy a knife from me. I am not oggling any site. I am just interested in the various opinions. Some hold some merit others are hot air.
Unfortunately, I will not be set up to attend the St Louis show. Wish I could take you up on your offer. But I am up for a raincheck. Just give some room here to breathe and if you insist on badgering me then you have issues. I am not hiding anything. I was sent an email saying their was some chatter going on here and I thought I would help before confusion set in but seems as though someone's been ruffled. I can't make everyone happy now can I.
And BTW it's AARON.

Hmmmm...this could get good.....Cliff Stamp, calling Cliff Stamp. Preston

it will be a cold day before we see a knife tested...............just my .02 cents.....I am backing down. Good Luck Aron

didn't ask you to back down. Just moving. I am up for putting it to the test what part of that are you not getting. Asking that we can work together on putting a performance standard together that's fair, unbiased and correct.
You are acting as if I pissed down your back or something. I am moving so Brian unless you are willing to come make this go faster then start coming up with performance standards and be pro active instead a turd throwing bandit.
Let's do this.

Jeezus guys, give him a break will you, he obviously is new to the board and isn't aware of past battles, quit being so harsh before you even know what the deal is.

Whats the rush anyway?

Let him move, get settled and send a blade to someone here that is impartial (if there is such a thing)

Lets have a list of what we would like to see it do. Then a side by side with a TOPS as this is the closest in terms of price range.

IIRC he didnt advertise on the board, it was linked originally from the Wilderness section and he probably saw the traffic through his website stats.

For whatever it's worth, I replied to Red Scorpion's email to me by saying that I wasn't issuing a challenge, per se. I was merely stating the fact that I live close to him and would be willing to check one out personally. I really would like to see this knife up close, as the only pic I have seen was really not that close or clear.

Aaron...if you get the time, I know how busy moving can be, please send me some pics as well. As I mentioned in a post elsewhere on these forums, I would like to see the saw blade and close up of handle if you have them. I take full responsibility for the misspelling of your name as 'Aron', which probably had others writing it that way also. Hope you took no offense to that. My name is Damion...imagine what I go through! Hope to see the knife in action once you get settled into MO. Take care -Damion

Movin' eh? sorry to hear that...'bout as much fun as repeated kicks to the crotch. Hope it's as painless as possible.

While we're all waiting for the testing, could you give us some more info/teasers?

How long have you been making knives? What are some other knives you've made? what's the hardness of the blade? who did the tempering? Are you planning any variations of this knife? different handles, steel, coatings, etc.?

Sorry to bombard you with questions, no hurry answering, know you're busy and such... just curious.

By the way, I hope you'll consider doing a forum pass around. It could do alot to spread the word if it's a good product.

what is a forum pass around. I am new at this.
Sounds like I need to prepare a resume and detailed instructions of knife making proceedures to be a member here or you get your balls nailed to the wall. lol
jeez, I guess I could answer all of those particulars. I wasn't perpared for such and interrogation Ranger training doesn't perpare a guy for you guys. lol

chardin: As for me, having gone through literally hundreds of knives over the years, I’ve become rather cautious of non-big name makers. Mostly, this is due to my failure to follow the rule that you should only buy a knife you plan on keeping (though I could swear that _____ was the ultimate knife for ______). I expect to loose money for the privilege of trying a knife design, but most of the time the loss was much more than the experience was worth to me.

Also, there is the matter of craftsmanship. Great design let down by poor execution: bad fit, improper heat treat, improper choice of materials, bad grinds, etc.

In regards to this knife, you have a design that doesn’t exactly appeal to the masses combined with a maker many haven’t heard of (therefore no positive or negative reputation). You could also add on some peoples prejudice in regards to ebay.

Though, I must say this isn’t really a “grilling.” Read some of the discussions in regards to Mr. Stamp’s testing methods. Speaking of which, redscorpion6, you could always send one to him to test for the forums perusal. If it is given the full run and is given a favorable review, I think most naysayers here would quiet down a bit.

some interesting reading at the end of this post
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3495759#post3495759

seems were not the only cautious guys around asking questions.

I'd like to hear about the methods of construction as well. Didnt mean to come off as harsh, but from your email responce to the poster in the above thread, being wary of your intensions seems pretty fair on my end as well because your not giving us very specific details. Going into making 1000 knives it quite a task and not being prepaired may be working against you at this point. Can you post the pictures and info here? I apologies if I was out of line.....

Looking forward to the review on the forum. How long will it take to see the knives in action? I like seeing a good knife get down and dirty :)

Pass around forum here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=783 Read the summary and it should get you lined out on the details.

Resume? not necessarily. But the makers I've seen who care about instilling confidence in thier product tend to give the basic history of themselves, and the knife they're selling.

"Hello, I've been making knives for XXX number of years. you can view some of my past work at www.ljljlkjounv.com This model has an uncoated XYZ steel blade, and has been tempered to a Rockwell Hardness of XX by Jim Bob" That's not exactly too much to ask for before someone invests $200+ dollars in a knife. That's just the basic details for people who have common knowledge of knives.

Interrogation? Not really. To be honest I could give a rats a$$ about that particular model knife or 440 steel I figured it was only fair to give a new guy and his product half a chance.

Best of luck to ya'

Who are you to say I need to give you specific details first of all. I am not out to prove anything. I just made a great tool. I did not come here to be graded or evaluated. I thought this was a professional site with ideas going on. Why are you so worried about my process? Are you wanting lessons? Who are you anyway another self proclaimed expert, I have not heard of you either but I see you have spent a lot of time on this subject and I am not asking you how you make anything. Perhaps you should focus on your work. I do appreciate the attention but God, get real. I am not sharing my trade practices with you for no reason. You justify why I should explain myself to you and I may do so if it's worth the merit.
Buy one and test it. I am through with this silly banter on this forum. Good luck to you guys.
For those that have a true interest you email me and we will go from there.

Heh....well there's goes a screaming product endorsement.....:D

edited so I can wait to say what I really think in the appropriate forum.

Wow. The customer is always right -- sometimes, right in the line of fire ... :p All over the internet we have forums like this or individual makers' sites, all trying to get themselves and their work known, going to great effort to show off what they know, where they learned it, how they can make a better knife.

redscorpion6, no one is challenging you. They're trying to help you advertise what you can do. The last thing you need ot do is act like you have something to hide.

We have grown skeptical through the years... due to too many scammer the internet provides us with. To redscorpion6, I would like to tell you that we are very vigilant for any scammers out there and well, we get suspicious very quickly, for that I ask of your patience. To the rest of us, let's remain open minded and not get personal, hey maybe there is a good knife in the making!

We'll hear about it whatever the outcome.
