PLAN, saw it in what I believe is the older version of the book but I do not own the copy, got to skim a copy, though. Protection Location Acquisition Navigation

I just bought this book, great thing to have. Also got Cody Lundins, 98.6 Degrees. Signed up for a back to the basics course here in Portland in a couple weeks, got a nice new Filson jacket and also bought my first knife, an Izula. Been a full week, oh yeah I found these forums and you all have been a bad/good influence already!

Oh and I like this quote: “Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only for one second without hope”

I like the 5 C's (Dave Cantebury):

Cutting tool
Combustion
Covering
Container
Cordage

i think it applies to most things some might not consider it wss material but i have always favored it cause it makes sense

fast is slow, slow is smooth, smooth is fast. and bohica just because its usually true which is.... bend over here it comes again (which applies to most stuff to including survival lol cause your definitely getting screwed if your in a situation where your trying to survive.)

thanks for the opportunity

Les Strouds line "You Sweat, You die"

Very relevant in the cold white north!

And my favorite quote is from the king of survival, Ray Mears :

"Knowledge is the key to survival and the best thing about that is: it doesn't weigh anything."

My favorite saying I made up (or at least I had never heard it before) is "Ignorance scares me, especially my own".
My favorite acronym is "1*" one @$$-to-risk.

Thanks for the chance,

"buy quality, cry once" for when it comes to buying gear. cheap crap often breaks when you want to use it, good stuff can often keep working for decades. in a few yeas you will probably forget the price. skimp and you may be telling the story about she sucky hear you should have spent more on for decades... ig you survive.

this is not to be confused with thinking only expensive gear works, or that all quality gear is expensive.

"The rule of three"
3 minutes without air
3 hours without shelter
3 days without water
3 weeks without food
3 months without hope
(approximately that is)

"There is never time to do it right the first time but there is always time to do it again."

Thanks for the contest.
