XHP Manix 2 LW

Don't mean to hijack the thread but is it just me or does it seem like LW verions of the Manix 2 have become more popular than the G-10 versions? I've been looking for a Manix 2 with a black plain edge blade in S30V with G-10 and it seems that most common retailers are out of stock or have it priced pretty high?
 
Not sure what I'm going to do about this one, XHP is a great steel but the Maxament one isn't far off.

I also wish it was another dealer that had them, my experiences with KC have not been the best.
 
I'm going to pick one up when they are available, for some reason I can't bring myself to throw down money on a pre-order. I like the brown handles, and I want to try xhp, and at this price it seems like the perfect time to not only try out that steel, but also try out the lightweight manix. Never was interested in the bd1, and for the price of the g10 versions something else has always won over it.

You definitely can't go wrong with the 2 LW in general...I have 2 myself. The black DLC BD1 is a beater for me and has done extremely well in all kinds of uses, the edge retention isn't great but toughness and corrosion resistance are quite good. I also have the S110v version, when I moved recently I had literally dozens of heavy cardboard boxes to deal with, 110V ate them all and then burped loudly at the end. The steel in incredibly wear resistant and very rust resistant as well, it makes a reasonable companion to a SE Salt H1 model for use in wet environments. Unfortunately, it can be prone to chipping easily because it's so hard.

Expect XHP to fall in the middle in terms of wear resistance, be fairly rust resistant and have very good toughness. I have a Cold Steel mini AK made from it and have had very good results. Even being ground quite thin it has not chipped at all despite being used pretty hard. I actually dropped the AK on flagstones and it landed tip down but didn't chip!
 
I read somewhere that XHP takes a polished edge better than s30. In may pick one up if that's true. Nothing like having a hair whittled to show off.

XHP absolutely takes a better polish in my experience.
 
I prefer a toothy edge, and have had good results with BD-1 and S30V. I'm really curious to see how Spyderco's XHP holds up at a warehouse.

I caved and ordered one this morning. It shipped as well.

As soon as I get my hands on it I'm gonna polish it up all the way to 6k grit on the edge pro.

Looking forward to the xhp blade. I hope is does as well as the CS blades I have.
I like the brown handle color for a change and I m a fan of the Spyderco lw knives.
 
Well, let us know how you feel about it when you get it.
Personally I liked the spyderco xhp so far. Not yet convinced on the lw manix, but maybe it is time.

Got mine today. Flawless execution. Now to wait for the maxamelt so I can have the lightweight trio!

Same here. Preoredered a 52100 mili... they appeared on another dealer, I then called knifecenter to make sure that my order was good and I was aaured it was. At this point you can see where I'm going with this. A few days later I received an email saying that I would not be receiving mine.
