I have owned multiple Hinderers XM-18s both 3 and 3.5" and multiple CRKs. I greatly prefer the CRKs over the Hinderers.
 
Owned a couple dozen CRK but had never even held a Hinderer.
Traded a lg micarta Insingo for a 3" flipper slicer and was pretty underwhelmed.
Traded the 3" flipper for a small Box Elder Burl 21 and was very much satisfied.

Definitely prefer the ergos of a small Sebenza to a 3" XM.

Oh they absolutely can.

The only way to truly know is to try them. Here's my experience.

I carried the sebenzas first. Loves them. But I always have my little swap rat rodent solution not far away. I loved that combo. Decided to try an xm. Loved the xm, but it cuts onions and slices much less efficiently than my sebenzas. It overlapped the uses of my solution tremendously. So off to another owner it went. Outstanding knife, I just don't need something that stout that often that I'm willing to give up a nice thin hollow ground blade to have full time. I even tried again and had same result!

And truth be known, I don't carry the sebenzas too often anymore either. I mostly carry a double blade slip joint Davison that I had made and it is perfect for me. The solution is never far away when I need something serious. My second choice of carry is still the sebenzas (or mnandi depending) and I still carry them when I'm going to be doing a lot of work with a knife, but the solution is never far away.
 
I've owned both in different configurations, large 21, small 21, XM 3" and XM 3.5" and only the large 21 remains.

I'm am going to add a 25 or another 3" XM to the rotation before too long though.

I have owned large, small and 25 Sebenza and own an XM-18 and 24. The xm-18 is my preference out of them as it just fits my hand the best. All are great knives but it truly takes owning and carrying them for a while before knowing which one is right for each individual.

The question wasn't not whether or not I should get one or the other. I'm partial to CRK knives. I wanted a vote just to see what others think. I learned my lesson sometime back to buy what I want not what others sugguest. But all this talk made me start looking and "boom" fall in love with the glorious
