xtonesterx's yella peanut!

Lookin good man, lookin good!:thumb up:

I've always thought the yella 'nut was one of the nicest ones when they have a good patina built up. Maybe it's the contrast between the yell scales and gray blade.

Keep on going.

Carl.

thanks guys!

Carl thank you for your incredible stories! they are what heavily influenced me to get a yella handle peanut.

Congrats on getting sick, the peanut will be sure to live with you, it's a disease you can't shake.
Your post has put a CV yellow peanut back into my pocket, it's amazing how a post can do that.

You got yourself an extremely usable knife that won't back down from much and the jobs that look so big, usually end up getting cut just the same with a peanut. They do a great job of hiding until needed, then they shine.
The patina on you knife looks exactly like the one I have on mine, I used it a lot, then I set her down. The Pen is mint and shiny, but I'll pack it with me for the next couple of days.

Great knife and pic

Hard to go wrong with a classic like the peanut especialy in yellow Delrin and CV. The patina will look even better after a couple of weeks or so.

It's threads like this and "The life of a Case Peanut from Day 1" that discourage me from buying more knives. C'mon guys i want to get a new Sak and a couple Bucks! I can't bring myself to get em.
No other knife can out cut the peanut. Its handle is in the small category but it's blade is almost in the medium category.
My chestnut bone CV is nice but... carbon steel and yellow handles, they were meant to be. I have a CV Soddie and it's alright but goodness do I want a yellow nut. It's all about timing though. The first thing I want to do with it is gut some bluegill for a shore lunch so I can witness the legendary blueish-rainbowish patina that I hear about.

some updated pictures of the little beauty. the patina is coming in very nicely. the bolsters are all scratched and dinged up, every scratch and ding has a story though!

That Peanut is getting her sexy on!Damnit, now I want a yeller one too!I've got Damascus and stainless nuts, but no CV.I think it would be so cool to watch it age.I almost can't bear the thought of kicking the Damascus nut out of my pocket though, that ones special.I'm really torn!

Very nice!

When my son was home from college last weekend he was talking about how his yeller peanut has kicked every other knife aside, and it is all he carries now. It too has scrapes and dings, but that is because these knives were made to be used and like you, that is exactly what he is doing with his.

Yep, it's looking like a yella handle knife ought to look. Used. I do think there is something about the contrast of yella and bluish patina that looks great. I'd always meant to get another yella one after I gave away my last one, you keep up posting the history of this one and I might. Yella and blue, good combo.

Carl.

That patina is developing nicely. About a month and a half ago I picked up the yellow peanut and have been working on its patina.

Is it weird to crack a small smile every time you use a CV blade and see the blades darkening just a little bit more? I find myself using my knives more with the CV steel than I did with just stainless. A little more quiet thought and careful cutting as opposed to just ripping the bag open/ tearing the box apart/ etc... The main blade is coming along nicely, and the pen blade is just starting to show some signs of darkening, probably because I don't use it all that much.

My girlfriend had me online looking for a knife for her stepdad's birthday yesterday. She said he was an old fashioned kind of fellow and that he for sure would appreciate an old fashioned kind of knife... easy enough. So we get to looking around and I have a group of smallish knives that I think fit the bill. One of them was a yellow handled peanut.

She said "Wait a minute, are you telling me that yellow plastic is considered a traditional material? Didn't you just tell me that old fashioned knives have natural materials?"

Had to explain to her that Case yellow handles are the exception that every traditional knife fan agrees on. They are just plain cool. That one is a fine example of it. Hard to explain but Case really put it out of the park with the combo of yellow handles and carbon steel.

I like the look of the shield used on the yellow handled knives better then the ones used on the bone handled knives, it's also good to see the knife being used and enjoyed. There are so many peanuts I would like to get, if I have to fly somewhere I think I will pick up a yellow. I would hate for my chestnut peanut to get pinched. It's a good excuse to buy a new knife:-)

I love how traditional knives just looks better and better as it gets used. Scratches, dings, patina and all!

wow its been a long time since ive updated this thread! thanks to OzarkCreekWalker for the friendly reminder :)!

so in between the time since i last posted and today my little yella peanut was MIA for a few months. i was pretty upset. i had no recollection of where i had placed it or where i couldve lost it. then a about a month ago when i put on a pair of jeans and reached into my pockets guess who was tucked away safe and sound :). thats right, my little yella peanut. i couldve sworn i checked every jean, short, jacket, and shirt pocket i owned at least twice before giving up the search.

when my finger tips first touched one of the smooth steel bolsters after months of being lost, i knew instantly by the feel it was my peanut, its just a feeling no amount of time can make you forget. i pulled it out and the yellow delrin scales were still warm to the touch as if the peanut was just handled but all along it was in slumber just waiting to be re-discovered. the excitement and joy i felt reminded me of the first day i got it except times a hundred because of the bond and memories this peanut holds. i remember using the razor sharp CV blade to cut the twine off the first Christmas tree the wife and i had just bought for our house last year. i dont know why, but something about the holidays that just makes carrying a slippie feel so right.

ok enough of the stories and on to some updated pics! just took these this morning while slicing up some pearl onions for my breakfast omelet which it preformed like a champ!
