Ya know, I can handle people selling off "rare" new Busse's fast, but. . .

An ETS??? Not to disparage anyone, but DANG! No, not here. That other place. (I've only seen 2 FS here - both to help with bills.)

It's a SJTAC. We know what's it's like. Not a new knife that someone is unsure on how it feels or handles. This just bothers me.

Funny is I'm not surprised or hurt by people selling SAR5's for $100 over retail. I have no problem with that. Maybe b/c this is a SPECIAL military overrun that it shocked me.

I could be all wet and the guy's dog is in the hospital and he bot it for a proxy that didn't come thru and he's gonna donate the profit to some military organization or whatever. And if so, I apologize. But if not, this seems like bottomfeeding. :(

I'm hoping someone that really wanted one that was associated with the military didn't get left out on this b/c people were trying to turn a profit. :(

It's always a shame to see something like this happen, but without full info (which I do not want) on why the resale then it's just something to endure i'm afraid. Think something like this has been touched on before.

Speculating on knives is pretty common no matter what the brand. It's unfortunate that Busse has such a following that allows people to buy a knife and immediately resell it for 50% on top of the original. I can't think of a way to regulate the reselling of knives that would take into account every eventuality from pure greed to family emergency and all in between.

All I can do is buy the knives I can afford and hope to get 'reasonable' prices on others I want. I have started bargain hunting a bit in order to buy knives to use as trade or resell fodder at a later date.

I think there are some stealth Hogs out there doing their bit to make sure certain knives get to the 'right' people at good prices so "If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire ....The Hog-Team (machine gun fire)"

I think I'm going to sell my extra Boney AD for $30,000...
Just get all my profit taking done in one blade, one sale. :thumbup: :D :p

I agree with ya Dennis... flipping has never been something that sits to well with me.

Dennis, PM me, I may have an extra
Some in this picture are proxies
:cool:

You all know that a portion of the sales of this one went for beer for the ETS unit in Afganistan right?
Let's DRINK!!::thumbup::thumbup:

I not one for flipping either but people sell their ETS knifes does not bother me that much as the unit already got their portion of the sell also some people may have overbought for a good cause and are now seeking to recoup. I bought an extra Boney AD but as soon as I decide which one I like best the other is going to offered to a Hog for only slightly above cost +shipping.

There are always going to be people who have enough funds to buy what they want no matter the price-or inflated price. My concern is the guy who wants one or two knives, one to use and an extra, does not "score" because the two guys before him bought ten each for re-sale.

I guess I'll be "that guy":

The fact that people can immediately flip a knife for a huge profit means the price is below market value (longer term profits I have no problem with...they're betting the knife will appreciate and the opposite could happen, so I don't think there's anything wrong with that).

No system (one knife per order, etc) will fix the problem, as the "problem" is more demand than supply. The fix would be to raise the price to whatever its market equilibrium is so there's no unmet demand...but I don't think that would be a popular move for obvious reasons. The other side of the coin would be to increase quantity at the same price, again to the point where there's equilibrium and no unmet demand. I guess people who collect knives for their rarity wouldn't like this, but I'm not very sentimental so I'd lean toward that option (and I'd say a nice knife is a nice knife regardless of how many like it exist...the fact that other people don't have access to it doesn't make it any holier).

I agree with this part..:thumbup::thumbup:
Jerry needs to slow production... Too many knives are on the market ..

It be rainin' knives up in heah! :D Maybe Jerry should take some time off and try to bring home a playmate for Katie!! :eek:

I also think this is part of the market feedback that makes Jerry increase production.

I don't think its market feedback as much as it is the actual occurance of it.

I'm just afraid that Boss will stop all the special pricing deals if people
are just going to turn around and flip them for twice the price..

Theres nothing you can do about people making some money. But don't tell me you need the money and then ask twice the purchase price for a knife you have for sale. If you really need the money then lower the price.

It's a tough subject.

People have the right to buy an Embrace the Suck SJT and flip it for a profit.

People also have the right to grab up 3 or 4 CG SFNO's from a show table and sell them on Ebay or to HOGS that couldn't make the trip themselves.

Legally they can do it.

It's just a matter of ethics and fairness to other collectors.

And I personally believe you're right Dennis. :thumbup: :thumbup:

But greed is a very powerful thing - whether it's for knives or money.
