Yangdu... how about having the Kamis make THESE

Is that the 300 movie sword? Someone on the forums has one posted a pic said it was sharp. I'd like one as well.
Here is one I got to go with the Gladius its Celtic around the same period as the Pompeii,

Yeah that is the officially licensed movie prop. The cheapest place I actually found one was eBay where there were a couple for $99.99 and a few others from $125-$140ish. On sword sites they are from $150-$200. That is a pretty sick design.

color me impressed... a blade like that with a more Roman style guard and handle would be VERY cool.

I like it, and the handle is actually very comfortable in the hand, not to forget the scabbard,it is very well made as well.
I think the important thing to remember is these are individually made , each has its own character, giving you a one of a kind type of feeling and something to pass down when the time comes.

With the 20 or so kamis i met, [not then contracted to Hi.} drawings, photos 7 wooden forms didnt get a good copy, put a metal object in thier hands & they can feel the 3 dimesions, weight balance etc & copy it, to a greater or lesser degree with somewhat greater accuracy.

I doubt the real originals of these weighed much over 2 lb. thats a good top weight for a combat sword in most cultures as far as I can see.

Spiral

Most were a couple ounces over two pounds IIRC and with scabbard they weighed in a little over 3 pounds. The blade was 19/5 to 20 inches on average with an overall length of around 26-28 inches I believe. The blade width was approximately 2 inches.

It certainly would be inexpensive enough for Yangdu to send a basic example over - plenty available on eBay or elsewhere. A generation 2 is less than $200, and you need not send anything that elaborate if all you want them to understand is approximate dimensions and weight. There are plenty of options out there that can achieve that for under $100. The generation 2 is only so expensive because it is a real working sword... fully sharpened, tested on 2x4s and telephone poles. Even the generation 2 is not all that expensive when you consider that it is less than many of the blades available here. Still, as nice as they are, they are a mass produced cookie cutter semi-accurate reproduction. I really can't wait to see the kamis' interpretation. :D
