Argh, back to work and no pics for me  Almost sent email on that JKM anyways, don't have one of those.
Very odd, for some reason I can't connect to anything on himalayan-imports.com... everything else comes through fine. My wife couldn't have persuaded the IT guys to block the site, since I'm the only pseudo-IT guy that this podunk place has...

I almost emailed for the JKM too. She's a beauty. And that sword!! A short Manjushree ... Would make a nice mate to a full sized one. :D

Check it out: The manjushree is only 1/2" longer, but a bit heavier according to earlier stats (which doesn't make a whole lotta sense, as with the fullers the manjushree s/b lighter.) This is a nice gladius-looking sword, but without the fullers it just doesn't do it for me like the manjushree. Nice handle carving though!

Norm

Email sent on JKM.

Where were the sharks to keep me from feeding when already full??

Still trying to save for the Sirupati's ....

:grumpy:  :D

Wow!!! Must resist buying more knives. Some one help! Where are the sharks when you need them??

Nice blades!!! :D

Man, I was just thinking about getting a 12" Ak today. sadly, no cash for me:(
I still have the after Christmas no-money blues. I'd be happy to trade a couple ugly sweaters my step-mom got me for the little AK, though;)

Thanks (I think :barf: ) to the silent one who beat me to the JKM.

Guess that's what you get for hesitating....

Suddenly feeling a bit lightheaded and malnourished

Bamboo, if it's any consolation, you don't REALLY have a new HI snag until you unwrap it... freeing it from the Reno Daily Times it's so carefully rolled up in... then & only then the original kami has fated it to you.

JKM's sure are sweet. Got one in my pocket right now.

Keep at it. The USA antler ones were a real prize.
In fact all that antler stuff was way nice. Hope it keeps coming.

I'll second that, I've got an antler kumar karda and its nice. I was disappointed I missed the antler jkm that was deal of the "night" a week ago.

I always hope some of the antler we've given to Bill over time is used and prized by someone.

I get a kick out of that.

18.5 inch two pound tin chirra by Bura. Worth more than asking price of $95 UBBB
__________________________

Hey guys, just FYI, this is only the 3rd or 4th Tin Chirra to come out since August. (Actually, in the last year as far as I know!) "Worth more than the asking price" is an understatement. All the others were at least $125 and well-worth the cost. A chandan handled one on 12/7/04 went for almost $60 than this Bura model today.

I have two of them and they cut like a dream and feel very well balanced because of the extra fuller. They feel to me like a Hanuman AK, but seem lighter and faster even though they weigh almost exactly the same.

Just my .02¢ worth, as I couldn't believe it was still sitting! Of course, everyone's broke right now... :(

Regards,

Norm

P.S. Correction: There has been about a half-dozen offered for sale since 8/18. One 17.5" by Amtrak had a nice old style thick brass butt cap. About half sold for this price, the others were all $125 or more.

Newcomers....

BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL !!!!

Until you have seen, held, hefted and used an H.I. Villager model (anything) you just can't have any idea of what a value they are. Silver furniture and wood handles, superb blades, and easily the match of any of the more polished pieces in utility.

Ask any tree to compare. The Experts know.

Be well and safe.

My god, I was just thinking last night how cool it would be if HI made a gladius. And how I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Now, here it is by the friggin Royal Kami himself, and I can't afford it. This is my dream-sword. I hate this. And love it. This HIKV is nutz!!!

Good job to whoever buys it. I envy you greatly.

BTW, about how the sword being lighter. I believe it. Maybe it's just the photo or my eyes, but that looks like a pretty big fuller right down the middle of the blade. That could account for the weight. ?

Nam

Norm,

I don't have a 100 bucks.

It appears to me this Tin has a full tang. I thought some of the earlier ones did not, though I may be mistaken. I wish I wish is all I can say, and your post only POURED A WHOLE BUNCH OF SALT on my wood cutting dream knife wounds.

does that chiruwa ak have a "hump" ?
Man, I just shelled out 100$ for a long bladed yari !
IF I hadn't, this would definitely be a sharking day.
