Yep...I know... Wally World Chinese steel. I like the look and feel. I like the
fit and finish. Good snap. No blade wobble. Scales tight. Pretty nice balance.
The blade definitely needs some appreciation. So far stays closed in the pocket.

Seems very functional. In store... right at $10... I gave $0.50. Would you have
taken a pass ?

I'd have passed. Not a style I like and I know it would collect dust here.

I have way too many inexpensive knives doing just that so another, even at 50¢, would just be added to othe pile.

:) Looks fine for a disposable beater . But if you're looking for love for cheap knives , this ain't the place . ;)

Oh hey, that's the very same model that I picked up something like a decade ago. I nearly cut the tip of my finger off with the stupid thing (by being stupid and using force to cut while walking).

It's an okay knife for 50 cents. I'd put a decent edge on it and leave it in the car or something as a backup emergency knife.

No , I had one and it was junk
I had this one, a similar one branded Winchester, and a couple other similar knives with green wood handles by Frost cutlery.
If I found one on the ground I'd sharpen it and toss it on the work bench, but I would not have payed any money for one knowing about them what I do today.

Turns out I actually had the two frost cutlery ones still kicking around.( Apatche ranger and Apache longbow i believe )

On both of them the lockbar will pinch you when you open them, and it doesn't take long for the non standard pivot screws to loosen up.

At one point I had 6 frost knives with this same pivot and all were supposed to come with an adjustment key According to their boxes.
Only one did iirc and it was broken.

Hickory n steel Hickory n steel I have to wonder and ask why you've purchased so many bottom-of-the-barrel knives over the years. I appreciate a good deal as much as the next person, but you seem to have spent quite a lot of money on junk knives to find the rare few that aren't complete garbage. If you figure $8-15 a pop, for the cost of a few of these you could have purchased a decent Kershaw, SOG, Spyderco, etc. With what you seem to have spent you could have several good knives, in decent steel, with locks you can trust your fingers to and a warranty to back it up. Instead of a pile of junk.

I started buying flea market knives as a teenager for $5 and that's when I got most of them.
Then family / friends who didn't know about quality kept getting them for me as gifts.
I had eventually learned about good vs bad and really just had one quality user, but would pick up another " novelty " once in a while because I had the itch for a new knife but wasn't looking to replace my user.
Then I joined here and started liking the idea of having more than one user to rotate through and had to make room
Since then I have pick up about 3 cheapo knives over the past few years just because, but they're no longer my thing.
I've sold 90% of my flea market knife collection, but still have a few in a box whic somehow didn't make it into my yardsale.

Btw I don't know why but I find it funny that I was so tired of having the junk take up room that I let the whole lot ( about 100 ) go to some guy up the rode for around $40.
He just wanted them to collect and I found that better than individual knives going to people who would actually try to use them.
That's around $500 that had been spent on them by me and others and I ditched them for $40.

Whoa...That’s quite a loss. Sounds like Planterz was on track.

To the OP...no, wouldn’t touch the Ozark even for free. I’d rather pick up a Mora or numerous other folders (Ontario, Kershaw, Buck) for relatively cheap with good, safe use.

Monitarily it may have been a loss, but with the money I bought a Victorinox recruit, some Channellock slipjoint pliers, and a snack.
I see it as a win especially considering how many were 2-3 for 1 deals and that many were given to me.
Every one of them could probably be had for a $75 wholesale cost today anyways.
I'm sure glad I'm done accumulating junk thats not really worth using.

Glad you’re done acquiring junk :)

thought you liked the one ya had back then? what happened using it that changed your mind?

to op yeah I would have been tempted due to cheap price, to try it out.......... but Rupestris nailed it. wouldnt have been carried and used and just would be a waste.

I was down to one pocket clip screw so I stopped carrying it, not sure where it ever went.

Btw I'm pretty sure I actually saw this knife still available in the camping section last time I bought some propane for my torch.

so just low quality then. screws came out or came loose. low quality tolerances.....stuff like that. knife lock didnt fail from use though right?

Nope, and I've actually never had a cheapo linerlock or framelock type knife fail during use.
The only unsafe folder I had was a cheap plastic handled lockback that broke around the lockbar pivot , it didn't fold on me though because I saw the broken piece fall off one side and stopped using it.

Thanks everybody for your unvarnished truths.... consensus seems to be “lipstick on a pig”. Matter of fact , none of the respondents here endorsed this WalMart product. I’m glad I only gave $0.50.... to be honest, my wife informed me ( in the truck ) that Ozark Trail = WallyWorld . Oh well .... on to the next.
Opinions appreciated.
