Ye Old Seek-n-Find with the coffee table “junk” drawer

I do agree with you on the ZT’s. I used to buy 4-8 knives a year. Lately, it’s about 2-3 or less. I too would like the collaborations but ZT has been weird the last 3 years. Not many new models. Very disappointing. As they now are over $300, it looks like I’ll only be able to afford about 1 per year. Clearly though, there are enough people with the cash for them. I am not one of them. Wish I was. I can appreciate the more reasonable price of, say, a Spyderco Para-military 2 but I get bored with just different colors of G10. They’re certainly good quality knives, but there’s nothing ”special“ about them (just my personal opinion). I do still carry those type’s because of their utility (and I still do generally just like them) but I also like how the more expensive ZT’s have the titanium scales and the flipper.
Don’t get me wrong, I am a HUGE ZT fan. I still have plenty, I’ve just been paying attention to a lot of other things lately, because

1. ZT hasn’t been coming out with anything cool. It’s time they should have some Magnacut models or at least SPRINTS! Everyone else does by now. Steel would be perfect for their hard use theme.

2. They haven’t even come out with a new model that was interesting since the 0308, which was what like 3 years ago? They could be doing more spin-off designs based on the 0909/0920/0900s, the 0801/0808/0804s, and the 0550/0560s, etc… upgrades, textured ti scaled models…RHK makes it work putting out essentially the same knife over and over with a different blade shape…

Enter the 0392….awesome knives (probably, I’ve never had my hands on one), and the 0393 which is a good knife and very popular. They should’ve done the 0393GL with about 5 different blade shapes, maybe even as sprints…Bowie’s, tantos, Wharncliffe!?! That would be REALLY cool. I’m still hoping for that, I would buy at least one tanto, one Wharncliffe and one Bowie (probably more), if they did that! Just like the GL model tho, no cheap G10. If you’re gonna do G10, do it right like the 0620, 0909 & 0350s etc.

Definitely do the 0308 in magnacut. Offer a full ti version for $400. Put the 0357 on bearings and charge $150 for that. Sell a million. Make a full ti version on bearings for $220, sell a million.

Make sprints of the 0562/0452 in magnacut. Different colors, full ti scales, etc. make a bunch, people will buy em.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall at ZT headquarters. Just to understand why they do what they do.

Your suggestions are excellent!

Jeez, compared to that mine are kept in a castle surrounded by mountains on three sides.

WoW.
My junk drawer has receipts, odd cables and some half unrolled rolls of tape from my youngest.

Thought some of you might find this fun. See what all is in this is a pic of my coffee table drawer with lots of my good stuff -knives, tools, gadgets, and general pocket trash. I’ve always wondered if others have a messy drawer like this. I’ve seen the very organized wooden drawers and the metal tool chests, but this one is just the coffee table drawer. I love to look at all the things I am collecting. Lots of details to zoom in on.

Thanks, and enjoy looking.

Tyrone Slothrope's desk drawer!

I guess “junk” drawer was not the right way to describe it. It is just one of several drawers around the house that I put my stuff in. Since it is my coffee table right in front of my couch, and I spend most of my time there, it has filled up with all my most prized knives and my daily carry stuff. I just love to open it and grab something to fidget with while surfing the net and watching TV.

Excellent drawer, mr belly. 👍🏻 What is the zt In the lower left corner, which appears to have copper or brass scales?

That is a 0022CU. It is a copper scale. That was my Christmas gift to myself this season. I love it. Not a fan of the original with carbon fiber.

Thank you sir. I thought it looked familiar, as I looked at that model when it came out. Was not aware of the CU option. I’m afraid you have cost me some money. 😒😆

I try to be a bit more orderly, because of my experiences growing up with a father who owned 5-9 hammers because god knows where any of them were, and he had to keep going back to the hardware store to buy a new one every so often. Every square inch of the house I grew up in was stuffed with tools (plus nails, bolts, and screws of every size), electrical components, and nick-nacks. The lack of organization of any of these objects meant I was introduced to Chaos Theory before most of the other kids. I try to keep this sort of insanity in check in my own home and until I started collecting knives was pretty successful. There are lots of tools and stuff for projects, but other than the out of control knife and book acquisitions, things are mostly on an even keel. I try to do a yearly spring cleaning, where anything not being used, handy for future use, or having sentimental value is purged. There's no way I'd be one of those lunatic minimalists who just toss anything they're not immediately using and then buy it again when they need it next, but most of us have way too much stuff that aren't part of a collection or something we'll ever use.

This is my forward staging area desk drawer for small-mid sized folders (rotated in and out from the main collection). The larger folders are in another drawer. Some small fixed blades on a shelf and 3-5 fixed blades in a larger drawer. I'm not saying that the extra knives are there because I like to occasionally open the drawer and handle them, but yeah that's a thing I do at my desk.

I'll play too... Since we don't have any small children in the household living currently, I have guns and knives in all of my drawers,
tables, spread out everywhere.
Lately I was trying to put at lease the knives in some order and fixed few Pelican cases to hold about 30 of them...
Well the second picture shows one of those projects, the first one is old, but proving how my "junk" drawers are looking 🤣
Interesting thread, I love the OP's junk. 🤩
