Year of the Kershaw?

Ughhh those fixed blades are EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I want one RIGHT NOW!

I am thinking the same thing. In the past, Kershaw hasn't had very appealing fixed blades but the prototypes look perfect. I'm especially interested in the small one between the Skyline- and Packrat-design blades.

Spent a lot of time at the Kershaw & ZT booth at BLADE. I'm a big fan of Spyderco, but Kershaw is really putting out some great knives for the money. I picked up a Skyline there & have been EDC'ing it at work since. My only complaint is that it sticks out of the pocket a bit much.

The Composite Rake was a good feeling knife too.

The ZT 550 is a beast & felt good in hand.

I really liked the ZT 780. I've been looking for a ZT knife to buy & the 780 will probably be my 1st.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. It's always great to hear from your base that you are doing projects that please. We have many new ideas with both design and technology that will be unveiled in the future that we hope brings on similar sentiments.

Thank you all again!

I dunno, I've lost confidence in liner/frame locks over the last year. I've had a Spyderco Spin eat it's way across the blade tang, until it touched the other scale, and a sprint run OD-1 which failed with a spine TAP against my leg. :( If you slowly applied pressure to the spine, you could see the liner sloooooowwwly slide across the tang until it finally slipped off.

I do have other Kershaws which work perfectly fine. It's just that liner and frame locks have always seemed a bit precarious to me, at least in comparison to other locks.

Probably just a personal preference, but I am surprised that Kershaw doesn't have more of a variety of locks to go with their variety of excellent designs.

I have never liked frame/liner locks for very similar things that have happened to me. Some of them can be rock solid and others fail with light pressure and there is no way to tell which will do what. If they put the hawk lock that is on the RAM and MUDD on everything I would be really happy.

I really like the look of the Volt and hopefully have a NIB (not a blem) coming my way. Since it has a frame lock I definitely want to have the warranty and wouldn't have got a blem because of that. While I love the Volt, the Spedform and Tilt do nothing for me based on their looks. I'm sure they are solid knives that work well and have neat features like the ball bearings but unfortunately I find they look ugly. :foot: Someone called the Volt bland which is the last thing I think of with the composite blade, flipper, G10 insert and CNC machining.

The 550 ZT is also pretty great looking and I will probably pursue it since it doesn't have the recurve blade.

Are there any more pictures of the goodies displayed at the Kershaw booth from the '10 Blade Show???

:)

how about the kershaw talon 2 ?? i really want this one, i think its an AO as well.

I just wanted to say CONGRATS to Kershaw for winning Blade's "American Knife of the Year" with the Tilt.:cool:

I am very interested in the new ZT550 and the rake...

I will probably get a blur and a lahar as well.

I have to say that recently I've been more drawn to kershaw! (not only to new but to old designs)

Volt and speedform look both awesome!

I recently picked up my first Kershaw (other than a Shun chef's knife) and am incredibly impressed (ZT 0300). Untill now I've not been a real dedicated folder guy as I've been unimpressed with the designs etc.

Kershaw you are doing a fine job. unluckily some of the ones I'd really like to pick up I can't find.

I'm very interested in the Tilt.

What do we know about it so far? Steel? AO? Price?

Steel? I believe the cutting edge is Vanax 75

AO? Nope. The Tilt uses a version of the Roller Thrust bearings called KVT bearings. Small ball bearing imbedded into a small plastic washer causes the blade to glide open.

MSRP of $350.00
