Why couldn't they have made this yellow bone version with the sheeps foot blade dang it! It does look like they are doing another run of the clip blade this time around though so hopefully they do a clip version with the yellow bone.

I like that pair of congress knives quite a bit, too, Dave. Most excellent. I remember when you posted a thread about the big one... what a behemoth! lol

acrylic? i thought it was bone.

Yes, it IS Bone. It has been treated with acrylic to make it denser and more durable. I would expect the color to be very stable, and that it will keep its brilliance.

Any bone density differences will allow the color and acrylic to penetrate more or less deeply, so the bone will still have all its character, showing parts with different dye take than others, plus any grain is enhanced.

My Stabilized Bone Soupbone Charlow has very beautiful and deep translucency. Im sure you will love the color qualities of your smooth bone GEC. Im a big fan of smooth.

---

I recently sought confirmation from GEC regarding their use of stabilized materials. Apparently I had misunderstood an earlier conversation. GEC informs me that:
"The only thing we use that is stabilized is Primitive Bone. All the rest of our bone is not stabilized nor are most of the woods"

I will be preparing several delicious servings of figurative Crow, no birds will be harmed during my re-education. I apologize if anyone was misled by my earlier posts that claimed all GEC bone is stabilized. At this point I dont even know if the CheChen is stabilized or not. Feel free to just ignore anything I say until I graduate from knife materials 101, sometime next year maybe.
