Yes! Another Plea for Help in Finding

Not USA made, but you'd be missing out on a great knife by excluding the Spyderco Gayle Bradley.

Get a ZT 550. One and done. I thought that knife was damn near perfect until I got my ZT 801 and Spyderco Domino... Those are worth every penny! Bearings are super awesome.

Up your price point a few dollars and you could go for a Benchmade 810 Contego, Spyderco Gayle Bradley or Military.

Okay. Lots of good help and info here. I think I'm worked down to a short list.

1. Spyderco FFG Manix2. I've flirted with this before and it meets my criteria.

2. Spyderco Para2. Also meets my criteria. Never used the Compression Lock, so that would be new. Lighter than the Manix2, and people seem to love them.

3. ZT 0550. Heavier than the others. Worries me since I wear shorts 98% of the time and this will be a weekend knife. But it's very different from anything I've had before. People seem to love or hate this one.

Others considered.
Benchmade Full Size Griptilian. Have this in smaller, looking for something new to me.
Banchmade Rift. Looks nice. Doesn't speak to me though. Something in the scales turns me off a little.
ZT 0566. Never had a flipper, not sure on this one. Might try at the right price.
Spyderco Military. Very nice knife. I am not a fan of Liner Locks, but if I ever made an exception it would be for this one.

IT'S A BRICK.
Had one and got rid of it.
even after I did the damm detent fix. it still sucked.
Only knife I ever owned in
35yrs that gave me a callous on my thumb.

Now I just P.O.d all the ZT 550 fan boys:barf:

I added a ZT350 to replace the 550. No callouses.

And a Grip, Tenacious, BM Dejavoo and
my favorite.

The spyderco native is very light and works well with gym shorts. It's a bit on the shorter side though. I'm surprised nobody has said this yet.

If the Manix is at the top of your list go for it. Fantastic knife.

And if you find the FFG one, let me know where ya found it please:D

I have owned a 154c manix for years and never
any issues.

the manix 2 and manix xl are great knives for the price, everyone should have at least one in the collection. the versions with the black blades look nice too.

BM Bone Collector, get it while you can it was just discontinued.

Was my very first thought!! The large BC folder is a very good carry folder that has enough weight to it to make it feel as solid as they come! It has D2 steel, a 3.43" blade that is semi sheepsfoot, and semi reverse tanto. I sold the one I had to my cousin who promptly stuck it in his safe. I think I will talk to him about buying it back......just won't tell him it is discontinued! He won't mind since he is not a knife knut.

The 550 isn't a brick. It is a little fat, and a little clunky, but it is easily in the top 5 of all blades I have handled. The detent on both of mine was perfect, but a replaced blade made it VERY stiff. I wore the detent in artificially by opening and closing the knife about a inch for about 30 minutes straight. The detent finally weakened up enough to not obliterate my thumb.

Stiff detents happen. Don't totally discredit the knife because you unfortunately had a bad one.

As for the weight, I wear mine with shorts all the time, and even carry it to the gym. If you plan on running it weighs about the same as a wallet and phone, so wear a belt or tie the drawstring. I was unsure on the size and weight at first, but the design is too awesome to pass up. If you are insane enough to not like it :p then you could easily trade it here.

Spyderco manix2 or the unloved BM 300. I have the 300-sn and the 300-1. I also have a couple manix2. More often than not, I carry the 300-sn.

Spyderco Paramilitary 2, the compression lock is one of the strongest...and the "most fun" lock I've ever had. I've had many. Or pick Spyderco Sage 2, Gayle Bradley. Stretch in ZDP-189, Caly 3.5 in SuperBlue or ZDP-189.
Looks like I'm a fanboy...

Think of it as a higher spec Grip:

3.5MM blade stock with full steel liners it's a heavy duty knife that will slice with the best of them for around $110 it's a bargain to say the least.

Some don't like the looks, but I'm very happy with my Benchmade 581. Axis lock, assisted opening, 3.6" blade, M390, and can be found (new) in your desired price range.
