Well, i planned on posting this yesterday, but that live chat occupied most of my time, so time for the pics.
i have recently been practicing my tarp setting skills for shelter, so i went outside with some blades, my heater/oven, some food my tarp an some other essentials. Among these blades was an axe i picked up on saturday at a gun and knife show. its a plumb victory hatchet and, according to the guy i bought it from, it is from around WWII ish. it was $30 originally, but i talked him down to $20. it came pretty sharp, but the handle was a disaster. it had about a 45o bend in it, so i put a knew handle on it, although my handling job wasnt the best.
anyway, the axe was, overall, pretty nice. it is better at splitting that my GB because of the flatter cheek area, rather than the hollow on the GB. i still prefer my GB for most everthing, but i am pretty impressed with this one for $20.
anyway, the pics:
the shelter was a little small. the tarp is 6x8, and i am a touch over 6'4''. i still fit in pretty well, and the stove kept is really warm.
also cooked some lunch on the stove:
now some axe pics:
blurry notching pic:
the poll is pretty big and flat, makes a really nice hammer:
some more knife pics on the way!
