ok everyone brace your self for the wonders that are about to behold you. i got a massave score to day. there is a place that sells everything kinda like a yard sale but in a huge wallmart sized building. thay get over stock, damaged items and anything else you could think of. even ac motors. thay have a scrap steel section that i came across. tons and tons of aluminum, copper, brass, iron. i started lookin through it and i saw that the steel was all marked. in the next post you will see what i got. :D:D:D

HEY!!! Now you have to tell us your source! :D Where did you get it?

How much do you want for that obviously useless chunk of A2?
- Mitch

My question is what do you plan to do with that big chunk of 3V or that S-7???

I was going to guess $.25 a pound. $.30 aint bad either. :D Why don't we have places like that around here?

JT,
Looks like you are officially hooked. Now how are you going to work all that BIG stock. if that L6 is 2.5 inches the rest is huge. The 2.5" is going to be really fun with a hand hammer. I hope you have access to power equip. Man that is a great haul though. I know many of us (me included) would have snatched it up too. It was really nice of them to mark it all. Most don't.

Get cutting, and pounding

Chuck

More Like next week. That 2.5 L-6 was the best score of all that. You will get a bunch of blade stock out of that. I wish i could watch you forge it (by hand).

i must have 250+ pounds of A2 man this stuff is pricy new. how would i cut down the large stock. man the long L6 round all most nocked me over. it is 100 pounds and when standing up all most pushed me over when moving it. the big rounds would make great little anvils made from A2 :D. if i can get a constent supply of this would there be any takers. there is also a ton of 4140. the little M2 round would make a nice hammer.

you might need to upgrade your band saw. I can't imagine how long some of those would take to cut with your old saw. Didn't you say you picked up a chop saw? that huge pole of A2 is just begging for you to grind the whole thing down into a big sword with stock removal I am sure it would not be too hard or a waste of material or anything (just kidding), where are you putting all that, your floor is going to collapse on your downstairs neighbor if you add that to the 5160 stock pile you already have stashed.

ya i have like 1000 pounds of steel in my spare bed room. just keep it evenley spread out on the floor and pray for no earth quakes. :D. maybe i should get a house with a shop. you should have seen me at the store. i put all 525 pounds of steel in one shoping cart, it would barley move. i dont know what to say but that my name is jarod and im a steelaholic.
i wonder if my wife will let me put some under the bed, just junk under there anyways :).
