Hey, at least you have a place indoors. I (and probably most others from cold climes) am limited to whittling over the waste barrel. It's 14° in the garage right now, same temp as outside.

Thats very true, I got tired of having to wait until i got out to the woods to test out some knives so i cleared out that area and made it a cutting area, i dont do a lot of chopping, but i can split logs and do slicing test easily. Plus i have beams above me already for hanging rope LOL.

Its pretty dark down there, not many lightbulb outlets and the couple there are doesnt hardly do a decent job of lighting the area, But i hung up one of my old high output full spectrum T5 grow light fixtures and now i have plenty of light and pictures come out WAY WAY better.

Morning folks! Sitting here with a massive cup of coffee and preparing for another day of work. How's everyone else doing?

my cup of coffee was too small, but that's a reason to stop at the cafe later.
I'm hiding out in the 'mountains' for a few days. Cold here, but fantastically quite. You reprobates will have to be my virtual company, which is about all I can handle at the moment anyway.

WW, those are surprisingly quality pictures for such limited lighting conditions. Great that you can have that space at least.
When I was a kid, my friend and I built a slingshot range in the basement, complete with cord-actuated moving targets and everything. Perhaps I was a bit under-supervised...

Thanks Daizee, And i cant wait till my son is old enough to want to do stuff like that LOL, Id be right there helping him with the moving targets HAHA

Coffee is folowing, bags are packed, and I'm getting ready to go down to Seaside, OR. for the weekend.
We're spreading my wife's grandmother's ashes into the ocean tomorrow.
She passed a few months ago. It was expected. So as sad as it is, it hasn't been tragic.
My inlaws have rented a large house for the weekend and the whole family will be there.
It'll be nice to get together with everyone to celebrate the life of such a wonderful lady.

'Mornin guys! My moms dog (miniature poodle) just had her second litter of pups last night! Six little girls, all happy and healthy.

I'm sorry..

Sounds like a great send off.

Nasty weather here today so I did a little grinder work. This is a knife made from a file I picked it up at a yard sale in Missouri from an older couple. The old man said he'd had it forever and some blacksmith back in the hills made it. I convexed it and it's going to be a dandy bushcrafter.

Just a work knife but he did a fairly good job on it. I thought it was pretty cool and was glad to give it some new life. The handle is still tight.

That's a fine looking knife. Looks sharp as sin. And your signature quote is, in my opinion, fine advice.

A guy with a hangover and a pretty bashed up truck made that announcement in Betty's the other day. It kind of stuck with me too as sound advice.

That's quite incitefull. Good looking knife, Trade. Be careful and don't cut yourself or anything.

D, I am working tirelessly on that tube thing we talked about. It's kind of pissing me off, because my stubborn streak has kicked in and... well... I'll get back to you when it's up to par.

T, that other thing is ready, but it's also pissing me off. The black dye I used on the sheath is still bleeding onto the orange handle, and I have not figured out how to make that stop. The good news is, if you want an orange handle with "lowlights" of black in every microscopic pore and scratch, we're good to go.

When you figure that out on the black dye and the orange handle let me know JT. That is frustrating as hell, Ive even tried polishing the inside of the sheaths and I cant get the black to stop that crap on the orange or pink or white. The only thing that I have got to help is just allow a huge curing time for the dye and it will eventually stop but Im talking months and months, Its Sucks!

Have you guys tried sealing the inside of the sheath with paste wax or something, and hitting it with a heat gun? That usually cures the dye quickly for me, to the point where it doesn't bleed.

Watch to the end.. this is abut the funniest thing I have seen in a while...

Ive tried several thing on the inside of the sheath but never a heat gun. I have found that it also depends on the leather. I find the outcome is better if I have a real smooth flesh side oppossed to rougher. so, thats the peice i go for if I know its going to be a black sheath on a light handle. I'll try the HG
