Yojimbo II

Sorry, never took pictures when it happened. It's not a particularly big chip given that I don't use much force when cutting, just something that would bug me to no end if I left it there.

I don't believe S30V or D2 chips as easily as people might think. Dozier D2 in particular didn't seem to chip during the month or so I've been trimming onion roots with it, which has plenty of dirt in it. I've also slammed my ZT 0301 against a papaya tree during a bout of tactical mall ninjary with no evident damage or rolling, though I suppose edge geometry plays a big role in that.
Yah I just know a ton of people say it chips easily but Busse sure seems to make mean D2. I dont have enough experience with it to say for sure any which way.

hollow grinds tend to be thinner behind the edge which makes them cut through most material easier.

those don't have to be hollow ground because the blade steel is already super thin.
Hollow grinds are as thick/thin as they are chosen to be ground, it's just that the increase in thickness isn't linear. But yes, starting with thinner blade stock makes cutting easier, no matter the grind.

and S90V has impact toughness right around S30V and D2.
