Yojimbo status?

Yea, I want one too. I saw a photo of one not too long ago somewhere on bladeforums, but I don't know where it is now. It had blue G10 handles like on the DoDo! Really slick looking. I can't wait till they come out.

I loved that blue g-10. The Yojimbo is on my short list. I will have to get some as soon as they are available.

I can legally carry the Ronin concealed in Texas, but for travel to places where only folders are legal, it will be nice to finally have a Yojimbo available.

Yojimbos are in the 2nd pilot stage at this time. I'll know more the end of the month. (OCT).

I have been extremely pleased with my Ronin, and cannot wait to buy a Yojimbo. The wharncliff style blade is a great cutter and I hope that Spyderco uses this blade style on other models.

Right around my birthday.

Would make a great present, Sal.

;)

Just kidding.

Thanks for the update!

<-----Looking at the picture above drooling.

Does anyone know the dimensions? Is this one of Spyderco's Big Little knives?

Heh, heh.

Guess which importer is in deeeep trouble?

That having been said... too bad it's gotten stodgier and fatter in the blade.

Hope it's just the photo angle or that it's just an early proto, but I much prefer the Ronin's tip profile -- stabby. This guy looks like its mother was a Rescue and its father was a Dodo...

Does anyone know if the Yojimbo will have a reversible clip for left handed users? I thought I read that it would have this feature a while back. I hope so! I know that right handed folks also have use for an "off-side" backup knife, and this blade may fit that bill perfectly!

Can anyone confirm?

I don't know, I was looking forward to the Yojimbo, but it's so stubby, that I think I'm going to pass. I was hoping the blade would be closer to the custom.

WM,

Exactly my concern... hopefully this is a very early prototype and they changed it to match the custom or the Ronin's shape... Right now, it's just too stubby. The handle profile, too, especially in the butt. One hint that it may be an early proto is that it seems to be missing the blade spine traction grooves that Mike loves for Filipino grip.

I absolutely LOVE the deep front guard, though -- cheers to Sal and Mike for acknowledging the great importance of that design feature.

Spidernoire,

It's been said that the blade length will fall just at or under 3".

The photo is not very clear, but I think I do see the traction grooves on the blade, and the blade appears normal to me. I think the longer, contoured handle causes an illusion of a stubbier blade. The Yojimbo was always intended to have a proportionately longer handle than the Ronin. I am concerned about the lack of choice of clip positions, but a proto may well not have everything that will be present on the prodo. I still plan to buy several of them.

I really hope that the knife will have a reversible clip, I don't see why manufacturers don't put reversible clips on every knife they make. It can't be that hard to drill a few more holes into the handle
