Yojimbo status?

Rex,

I matched up that pre-proto pic and a pic I stole off an internet sales site of the Ronin.

I resized and rotated so the edge lengths are identical -- both cutting edge and the detent on the Yojimbo and the choil on the Ronin. I use this as a reference anchor because we know (or presume) that the edge lengths will be identical and that both have flat wharncliffe edges.

You can see there's clearly an angle difference -- it looks like to accomodate the Spydiehole...

So the choil being moved back means the folder has a slight reach advantage over the Ronin despite the same-length blade. Thanks!

No knife (or any product) satisfies the wants and desires of everyone on the market for a knife. The Yojimbo, as Mike designed it, with it's large ergonomic handle, under 3" blade with a very strong lock, and set up for tip-up carry, is exactly what I've wanted for my EDC! It's perfect! If I'd wanted a bigger blade, then I'd have gotten a knife with a bigger blade, or with any other arbitrary "attribute" I can think of. Come Jan/Feb 2004, the Yojimbo and folding kerambit shall find a home in my pockets.

Since we have nothing better to do but wait, and given that we now know the Yojimbo's blade is 4.3478% shorter than the Ronin's, can you re-do your image?:)

donuts,

Hmmm... lemme think about that....

.
..
.........

No.

;)

Not unless it'll make them reconsider and put in the sharper angle (somehow... ack.)

Hi Spyken. Michael specified blue. Maybe we'll make a black sample for Michael to play with.

I'll be happy with one in blue, black, grey, brown, green, tan or olive, as long as I get one.

And a trainer in red, too, please.:)

FWIW, my blue Dodo looks nearly black against very light khaki shorts. The Dodo's exposed section when clipped to my pocket is very small (it can be covered by a penny), so it must be the same concept as carpet: "The smaller the sample, the darker it looks."

Sal, I get the impression that the pictured Yojimbo may not be the final, final version. Any idea on how much of the handle length is exposed when clipped in?

Or is the only difference that this pic does not show the holes for reversing the clip?
Thanks!

cool, so does that mean that the yojimbo will be available by christmas? Also whats the msrp on these babies?

Hi Donuts, The Yojimbo is pretty low profile, a little more than the
Dodo. The knife is reversible, the proto didn't have holes drilled for the left hand carry.

A red trainer is more than likely going to come after we get production going on the live. It has been a challenging project, but we aim to have it as right as possible coming out of the chute.

Hi Manji, probably not by Christmas, sorry. Sometime in Jan or early Feb. MSRP is $159.95

Yojimbo eh, isn't that the aeon that looks like a samurai in Final Fantasy X. If you know what I'm talking about, then you are a total geek.

Hi, Sal.

I haven't heard any updates on the Yojimbo since sometime in December.

Any info on when they might be available?

Thanks.

Yes, Sal, release the Yojimbo. My face is already blue from holding my breath. :D

Release the Yojimbo!
