"You could buy a gun for that much money!"

I could have bought a gun with that money, but then it would just be a paper weight since guns aren't allowed here, heck, even knives aren't allowed here (possession is, carrying it with you isn't, yes, logic has left the builing), but you have to start somewhere :p

I love them both look up the meaning to my name ;)
But my heart knows a gun to a warrior is but a tool. ...... his blade is

His SOUL.........

And his spirit never runs outa Amma

Why this will serve both purposes. :D

I see it as a matter of relative quality. Case in point, if I have $190, I can buy something like an LT Wright in 3V, and get one of the best knives money can buy. High quality materials, outstanding fit/finish, ultra durable etc... truly an example of fine craftsmanship.

For the same $190 I could get a Mossberg Maverick 88. Sure it'll function fine, and be durable and reliable and do everything that a pump 12ga should do. But nobody is ever going to wax poetic about the fine craftsmanship and fit/finish the way one would about the LT Wright. To get a comparably nice gun, you'd probably be looking at a guns in the low $1k mark.

So it's about getting higher degrees of craftsmanship for my dollar, at least to some extent. That said, knives will always be the mistress to my gun hobby...

There you go. That's how I feel, in a nutshell. I no longer laugh at the flashlight, pen or watch guys, either, as it's the same. Buy what makes you happy, at the highest level of quality you can afford. I just can't afford guns, at the moment.

Eh, I often will opt for something gun related over a knife. I use my firearms on a weekly basis. I train and practice regularly, I work with several types, it just sucks money much more than knives. And if I've got $300 in the "fun" account that I feel like spending, chances are, I'll get ammo, or a light, a class, mags, stuff like that. If I'm saving money to get something more expensive, a knife isn't even on my radar.

$200-$300 is my butter zone for knives. More than that, and it's usually got features I just am not into enough to pay for. Less, and I probably feel like I'm settling. Those are somewhat arbitrary numbers, but you get it. You can often get good steel, good materials, and good quality from knives in that price range. I buy knives when I either need one and have defined features I want, or I just start lusting. Also have some duplicates. But they're not a priority, since I've already got what does what I need.

That said, comparing prices and values two different items isn't all that useful. Everyone has their own priorities, interests, and hobbies. If product A is what you want, who cares if you could get Product B? You'd still just want Product A if you bought Product B, and now you're out twice as much. I have a handful of Aimpoints and Surefires that I could easily turn into a literal truck load of Mosin Nagants... but then I would just need to go buy Aimpoints and Surefires again :D
