You get one Benchmade Axis lock for EDC and heavy use.......which one would you choose and why? If not a BM....pick another folder at around $175.00 or below.
Remember...you only get to choose one. Pictures are good too.

710 - tough, cuts like crazy due to the recurve, and has excellent ergonomics. If it had to be a Benchmade, it would be a 710. If it didn't, it'd be my Socom Elite.

I would have to chose the 520. It's a big, solid folder that can handle the abuse. The handle is big enough for a comfortable grip and you can really lay into it if you need to without much discomfort.

Now that's the kind of answer I was looking for Ken!

Come on folks.....give it up. Which one and why? So far the 710 is ahead, but the 520 looks mighty tempting based on what Ken said. Remember....it's for EDC and heavy use.

Thanks,
Mike

Either the 520, or the 720 satin plain blade.

I gave my girl a 720, and now i'm starting to wish i bought two. :)

It fits so well in the hand and has a nice hefty weight. The blade on this one is so solid, no bladeplay.....none in any direction. I'm very impressed with it.

I'd have to get another 941BC1BL or similar knife. One of the new 940TI or 941TI-01 would be fantastic. I like the shape of the 941s a lot better than the reverse tanto. My 941BC1BL was fantastic...but I never really got to use it..money issues, but I have a Strider SLCC to fix that  :D

What Ant Dog said about the 710. I realize that for some it may be too large, but I think it's wonderful. They came up with an undeniable champ with that one. geegee

ignoring the heavy duty aspect, I'd pick the 921 for my single allowed Benchmade as EDC.

if it has to be for heavy duty as well, I'd most likely go with a Nimravus Cub.

i prefer to carry one lightweight folder for EDC, and a larger, thicker knife for heavy duty stuff. preferrably fixed blade, or with some sort of safety, like LAWKS.

Well, if it wern't for that axis lock part I'd pick a BM42 balisong. If it were any traditional folder in that price range it would be a Camillus Dominator.

Now, fully meeting your original criteria I would pick the 710.

I would pick the 921 Switchback, hands down. I like the availability of the extra small blade for doing fine work such as picking out splinters and such as well as the modified Wharncliff design of the main blade, the shape of the hilt, and, as said in another thread, I love the blue color on the hilt. It has now come equal with my much loved Spyderco StarMate as my EDC for non-working days. Its only problem for me is that it is slightly too long for carry where I work, in Washington, DC, with its 3" blade limit, and in a federal government building where the law says that a flding knife with a blade of less than 2 1/2" is defined specifically as not being a "dangerous or deadly weapon" and banned as such.

My second choice among BM Axis Locks is the 770 Gent's Folder with its Carbon Fiber scales. This is one very dressy knife that would go well with a dinner jacket or even white tie and tails. If I were getting married and had the cash, it would make a perfect choice for groom's men's presents for even the most formal of weddings. It should, of course, be given with a penny so that the recipient could then give you the penny back to "buy" the knife, thereby avoiding the old curse that giving a knife to your friend will "cut the bond of the friendship." BTW, I have just ordered a Spydie Kiwi which appears to be another knife of this type; very slim and very smart looking.
