You know what would be awesome? A BladeForums Special Edition Becker BK16.

Still waiting for my BK7 and 14 to arrive, damn second shipment from the local import...
If its a BK7 then I'm game. Now I just have to find a way to shell out enough dough.

Any guess in price? I don't want them to be insane they should be decent priced since it's a run for blade forums, added the cost of the steel used, subtract the cost of coating add cost of stone washing

Everything for machining is there, so the cost difference is in the steel and finish

So would they start at their high retail price and go up in cost from there or would they start adding to the cost of what you can actually order one for

The cost would likely be about 50% higher at least. The thing you're overlooking in your statement is just that not all steels take the same amount of effort to work with. Since we're wanting a better steel, it will take more time to machine (hence more $$$).

Plus there isn't as much of a benefit for economies of scale.

so I'm guessing it will cost at least $90 -100 (*this is JUST a guess, I haven't heard anything*). This has actually kinda got me wondering how much a custom would cost...

Hell if price was around 90 or 100 I couldn't be happier, I'm guessing it's going to be a lot more

Yep, thats my guess as well. I said at least, so I'm not seeing it being much cheaper than that. I think it would depend a lot on the steel that is finally decided upon.

But I'm keeping my hopes up :).

I am intrigued. (due to the steel)

I guess it really depends on timing and cost.

I'd be down for just a plain knife, no coating, no stonewash, just naked s30v. Keep the normal grips they use on the bk16, because most of the guys who want nice grips are going to want to go their own way regardless.

I'd be more interested due to the nature of it being a good woods blade, and s30v would be good at that. I don't want a looker, I want a user. If it's not perceptibly better at it's job, then what is the added cost good for?

Either way, it will be a nice blade. I just don't have need for embellishments that do nothing for utility.

Same here ,want a knife just like a 1095 becker..something I wont be scared to use but with a higher end material

i want one made from stellite or similar :)

First time I've seen this topic.

I'd be interested in some sort of LE BK16. My idea would be a small LE blade etch, uncoated user-grade finish, and some non-standard production handle material. Or maybe the zytel handles but in a different color? Don't care about the specific steel; I trust you guys' judgement on that.

Now, that said, he did mention something that may interest you guys. Apparrently, Ka-Bar has a stock of BK7 blanks... from the Camillus Era of Becker Knife & Tool. Around 200 or so, and yeah, they are 0170-6C not 1095.

I'm very interested in a LE BK7 made with Camillus blades. Have to do something unique to them though to stand out from the thousands of Camillus Beckers floating around out there. I think a tan or brown coating and matching scales would be hot.

Keep me up to date if either of these actually come around.

YESSSSS i would buy it if it was stonewashed stainless steel under 200 i would prefer micarta
