You know you spend too much time on BF's when...

A snake will mostly only attack when frightened or being hassled.
Also ...re venom...baby snakes are just as venomous as adults...the reason they are generally more "aggressive" and bitey is that they are likely prey for bigger predators so are naturally more feisty....as they get bigger they rise up the food chain and are calmer....when not in fear of their life....venom is produced much like saliva...
"Best to leave the wild ones alone.....they dont want to be our friends"
I think it was Timothy Treadwell (deceased) who said that...might have been the Aussie Tiger Shark petting girl (horribly scarred) .
Holy crap, your snake?
The babies can actually be more venomous than the adults b/c they tend not hold back and inject all of their venom on the first bite, where the adults control and conserve.
Also, that was no baby copperhead in the OP, he may have looked small in the pic, but he was well over 3 feet and probably closer to 4 feet in length.
Young copperheads actually have yellow/orange tails which they use as a lure.

When all your friends are discussing that latest Netflix series and cooking shows and you have no point of reference to what they are talking about so you try and contribute by awkwardly interjecting something about some mods & after market custom scales you saw on a vintage wealljuggleknives review.

You think you have just said the coolest most important pronouncement at the table that night and everyone else just politely smiles at you.

When the knife store sends you a late notice stating you have not bought a new one in the last two weeks. They are used to you buying very often and got worried they would lose a valuable customer.

Lol, I'm not there yet, but I'd be close if I didn't spread my ordering out.

...when you know a poster’s name because you recognize the hands holding the knife :)
That is funny! I do recognize my brother's hands in pictures but that is about it.

Scott J. Scott J. That was a huge copperhead snake for those that don't know. Years ago I almost stepped on one about that size. That would have almost been a snake bite for sure. Years ago in the mountains, I saw one that rivaled a rattlesnake in adult size (Eastern Diamondback).... still not convinced it wasn't just a really old rattlesnake. I didn't mess with it so I never saw the tail. but pretty sure it was a copperhead. Back then, I spent a lot of time in the woods and seeing rattlesnakes was a fairly common thing. Not everyday, but certainly a snake every couple of woods adventures. I was way back in the woods quite a lot.
