You know you're old when...

You thought $1 knives were expensive.
Your old when all the now "vintage" knives were new gadgets that would never be good knives; but now you wish you'd bought a dozen of each.
When pocket knives were actually carried in your pocket.
When folding knives only had one blade and you thought a SAK was a kids toy.

I just think it is obnoxious to come onto the scene with no other contribution but a somewhat snooty-natured "*you're". I speak from experience, I took great joy in being a grammar/logic nazi in my teenage days. Stopped doing it because of how it came off.

Ha, that's the funny thing, even the "designed in the dark" Spydercos like the Dodo, the Cricket, the Yojumbo, and a lot of "ugly" knives by them. Glocks, too, I think are good, and by the same merit, I do not consider Hi-Point THAT bad. But, about the Spyderco, I love it, I get so much hate on the regular knife subreddits, like 27% downvotes, but a lot of love on the Spyderco subreddit. Folks said "These look like they grew on the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down" "What did you do to that poor Spyderco" "Who the F puts a wave on a trainer?!" 😂

I was always one of those guys who avoided spydercos because I didn’t like the look, but I finally found a pretty slick all Ti PM2, and… I understand it now.

That PM2 was one of the most comfortable knives I have ever handled, with one of the easiest opening mechanisms, with one of the most useful blade shapes.

But, I have to say I still agree: you need to look for inner beauty to love spydercos. 😉

Aside from just a few like the Southard, Drunken, and Paysan that I think look pretty slick.

But why downvote people because they like something different? 😒 I’m really glad BF doesn’t have any sort of votes for most posts.

Those forums always create a little popularity bubble that makes people think twice about posting what they actually think.

Your first knife is discontinued. So is my second. Third too come to think of it, though it's been changed then reinvented, not truly discontinued.

Who remembers when we used to repair all sorts of things with a coat hanger? I had a neighbor with a collection of them under his car hood. They were also great at improving reception on your TVs, I even tried them once or twice on my multiband radio. Speaking of which, many of us would go to great lengths to boost our CB radio signal. For a while I had mine connected to a 40' antenna, on top of 40' building, located on the crest of a hill. Those were the days before everything went digital and got loaded down with sensors. :)

My first computer had sliding beads on it...
The next one had sliding pieces of wood; that never lined up with anything legible.

I still have an abacus (a family heirloom that I still know how to use) and a box full of slide rules (including a circular and pocket sized one) that I used at school.

Regarding the slide rules, I was (or attempted to be) a science nerd at one time but the idea quickly wore off after it became clear that I was not going to become an engineer or "scientist." Unlike the abacus, I'd need a refresher in order to "remember" how to use a slide rule.

I finally ended up becoming a lawyer and then a cop instead. LOL! ;)

PS: My 1st "real" computer was a Kaypro (that followed the Osborne). I've always been a CPM/MS DOS/Windows user. I also used a Radio Shack TRS80 w/a 300 baud acoustic modem to "communicate" by phone on the "Net" in the 80's. Now THAT's old!
