You made me do it.....

Are you going to Tikal? It is totally worth it. If staying in Guatemala city the day trip is fine. You leave at 5:00 am and have plenty of time to do the guided tour, they supply a great lunch and then fly you back.

There are plenty of places to buy machetes and nice sheaths while you are there. Take care on your trip, I came back from a Honduras/Guatemala/Mexico jaunt in August. I'll be back in Mexico in Jan presenting at a workshop.

Well, now I am. I was trying to figure out what to do on Sunday. Thanks for the tip! What type of workshop were you at?

That thing is beautiful.

Don't get me wrong, I love Busse's. I think I try to talk them down to myself because of their price tag. That knife is gorgeous.....what does something like that run?

The problem I have with every expensive knife I have ever bought is that I'm scared to use it. I don't want to break the tip or chip the blade so it sits in a desk drawer.

I'm glad you like it! To be honest, I wasn't all that enthused about the over-all looks of it, at first. I did really like the green linen Micarta though. After using it a few times, I guess I fell in love. Now, I think it's beautiful.

The Boney Active Duty had a base price of $227, IIRC. I upgraded to the green linen Micarta handles for an additional $15. There are still some left at the Busse Company Store with G-10 handles for $262.

As for using it, I feel the opposite as you.... I can't bear to strap on a Mora when I know I have a Busse or a pretty Blackjack sitting in the drawer. A while ago, I started buying a few of the older Effingham-made Blackjack knives that I always loved the looks of. I figured I'd sort of "collect" some of them. Well, right away I was stropping the edges and carrying them hunting. :p I haven't bought a knife yet that I haven't used! Wait... I take that back; I bought a Fairbairn-Sykes Fighting Knife this summer. Can't really see myself using that one....

And as for breaking it, it's a Busse! It's very unlikely you'll damage it. And there's a lifetime warranty if you do.

But to put things in perspective, you could probably buy one each of all the different Moras for the price of the average Busse. You can use them with no worries, and buy them without feeling too guilty about being fiscally irresponsible. :)

I think I'm going over to the Ragweed Forge website and order a couple of Moras.

Stay sharp,
desmobob
