More welcome words of advice. Sorry to hear of the stitches. I'm a dentist, so my life is all in my hands. But, you have a brand new gun to pop the cherry on and that is cause for celebration whenever it occurs!!

Welcome words of advice (again). You have much more experience than I do and I heed any any words that you have. Sorry to hear about your stitches. I am a dentist, so my livlihood is with my hands. Had carpal tunnel surgery in both of them so I know the limitations that stitches can bring. But, you have a brand new handgun (and a fine one at that) to pop the cherry on. And that is cause for celebration whenever it may happen!

That Springfield is very nice, Sky! I've been shopping ~3" 1911s for a while now and would be thrilled if I could find a Springfield anywhere! I see Sigs and Kimbers pop up once in a while, and that's about it.

mrn8 - Springfield Custom shop will cheerfully drain your finances with every option under the sun. Worse than Beckers when it comes to mods. The Emp was pretty much love at first sight. I have a few pistols in the same size category, Ppk, Ppq, Glock 26, but none even come close to the build quality of the Emp.
One of the things I like about Springfield is they will stand behind the gun for life. If there is ever a problem they send you a pick up label and they will have it back in about 2 weeks, No hassles, no wiggling under the warranty.
Stand up company. Kind of like that other guy that posts around here sometimes. Ethan something or other :D

Nice 1911 skystorm. I know all about the gun money hole kanundrum. Since I got my AR I've spent more on accessories then the rifle cost in the first place

I don't own a Springfield custom (yet), but I do have a couple of other guns from them. I'd actually prefer a 45, so I'm looking for one of their compacts instead of an EMP. The biggest reason for that is to narrow down my caliber range, so I don't have to reload more than one for my range time.

Balding, Just a temporary setback. Just remember you get better with each one so your acquiring unexpected experience and the next ones will be even better. The business end can be tough at times, I have found that whatever timeline I estimate I will need on orders I double it. On the rare occasion that I completely screw something up I still have enough time to redo it. Plus everyone is happy when they get their order 'early'.
Lately I have been working in weekly batches. My orders times are 3 weeks out so I do cutouts on monday and have them done and shipped by the following monday. So far that has been working out much better for me, timewise.

On an unrelated note, I finally got my Springfield custom in but can't shoot it for at least 2 weeks. As my Doctor put it, I am probably the most stubborn, hard headed and difficult patient he has ever had to deal with and if I come back in with ripped out stitches again from working he is going to kick my ass. Scissors and a draw knife are extremely difficult to use at the moment.

At least its pretty to look at

Hmmmmm, is this gonna turn into another day of posting pictures of guns? Cuz I friggen love those days!!! Only problem is that I might not sleep.........:D Here's a picture of my first handgun. I don't have it anymore, but it was what got me started.

Gun day? Sure, I hereby declare this Beckerhead gun pic day.

I'll start with the Kimber 1911 22, which honestly was more trouble than it was worth.

What, no scope?????

i have 20/20 and believe that long range hunting takes the "sport" out of it...The thrill of the hunt is sneaking up on your pray as close as you can...

I have a few youtube videos of me in action if you would like to see them... It's a little gory though...sh!t hits the fan!

Sorry to hear about your setback Balding. That sucks. Don't get discouraged though. Unfortunately one of the not so pleasent things about what we do is dealing with deadlines. Fortunately for you its seems that BCK is more than understanding and is willing to work through it. Be thankfull for that. Really looking forward to seeing what you guys can do together. You both seem to have very nice stuff! All the best!
