I'm not really a Sodbuster fan, but GEC's take looks to be a worthy entry, especially with that 01 tool steel.

Gotta love the scale material description: "Redneck Orange" Delrin.

What does it mean, "factory test run"?

Good looking knife. I'm interested.

I'm pretty sure Factory Test Run means its the first one that they're making but its not part of GEC's lineup yet. That one is an SFO and I believe exclusive per the knife info. Also, I've seen that GEC add FTR to new materials run for the first time like the ancient kauri wood conductors, 2nd cut smooth stag cuban stockman, etc.

Looks good to me. I'll be picking one up. I want one with stag!

Why oh why, can't they make a nice natural wood handle one like Herter, Klass, and Henckels?

Or even jigged bone or stag would do!

Carl.

Apparently, Collector Knives (or so it says on the pic) :D
I feel the lure of the Sodbuster pattern. I know it's meant to be a cheap simple working knife, but I agree with Carl, some nicer handle (wood?) would be very appreciated.

I like it. Redneck orange and all. It's not as much of a "me too" offering as if it were yellow or black. I've got to look into this one.

Thanks Quattro. I didn't even notice that. I like that it has a lanyard hole. I'd love to see an ebony version.

You are welcome. As for handles, I love ebony (it's probably my favourite handle material) but, on this particular pattern, I'd prefer a brighter colour and with more texture, such as olive wood or walnut. Ebony would make it a bit too elegant and classy, while I assume this pattern looks better in a "working man" version. Anyway, I will never reject ebony on any knife :)

Oh, Snap.

Hopefully they offer it in either Micarta or G10! That would make me so happy!

Love the lanyard hole, but I'd like to see it offered with wood handles of some sort. Jigged bone might be nice too.

Dang, I've been looking at Sodbusters, narrowed it down between Case and Boker, and now this...arrrgh!
The only thing keeping me from jumping up and down is the orange handle, I like to get them for the kids (so I can keep an eye on them across a campground), but I'd prefer something more sodbuster color traditional, or even wood like others have mentioned.

That's too cool all of the nay sayers ( me included ) said it would never happen. I also really feel like the blade steel was an excellent choice for such a knife.

I've already got a purty old wood handled herder, but a nice one in tool steel might be fun.

I too wonder what the price tag is on this number will end up?

Looks nice! I like the "redneck orange" (mostly because of the name :D ) but I'd also like to see wood and stag down the road.
