People, I just want to say:

I don't believe that I in any way deserved this fantastic gift. However, last night as I was lying in bed talking to my amazing wife and reading to her your responses to this thread, I realized that all of the positive energy and hog love I am getting from you people is a powerful affirmation that I am living my life the right way. There is no better indicator of a man's character than what the people he's around have to say about him.

I have a pretty thankless job, and sometimes the hardest part of it is making these kids aware that we are not the enemy; We do what we do because we care. You wouldn't believe how some of these kids treat us. And still...you guys have made me remember that even more important than the thanks, and attaboys...and even amazing surprises...is the respect of your peers.

Few of you know me as more than a screen name and some words. Maybe one or two of you has shaken my hand or heard my voice...but all of this positive energy has meant more to me than you can know.

This morning, when I looked in the mirror as I prepared for work, I had the feeling that I am a mostly just and righteous person doing good work in the world around me. I can't tell you how good it felt to be able to see that in my face despite the vicissitudes of life.

I just wanted to say thank you. I appreciate you all.

Don't give up on teaching. Somebody's got to turn the kids around ... and into people we can be proud of.

A lot of hard and thankless jobs just have to be done. And done well.

You are right, brother. That is, indeed, why I do it--not to mention the fact that minority students in urban areas NEED minority male teachers.

Truly, though...life is good. I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life.

Now wish me luck, hogs...I go in for another PET scan today just to make sure the I'm still cancer free. :thumbup:

Congratulations man, I really hope that you PET scan turnes good with no signs of cancer.

That guy is really generous, he have just gave you a historic knife. I am really happy for you, wish I have something like this in the future. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
 
Congrats Bro! Very cool story indeed! I'm happy to see good things happen for others and read about it here. Lord knows I've been a very fortunate person, and much of it has stemmed from my relationships here @ Bladeforums.

I was thinking about this a little, and if what goes around comes around... I wonder what the guy who fell through on the trade got?....Hit by a bus?? Good score G-man, very good! Hope your PET goes through clear.

The guy and I have spoken about the situation, and he's pretty happy it worked out for me. I don't hold any grudges, and I think he's done pretty fine for himself.

Brother, you lucked out like never before. That knife should be passed down to your kids and never sold or traded. Good for you, and a nice as hell jesture by the guy.
 
After thinking about what PapaThud said, I think this baby will be a user and DEFINITELY a keeper. Only problem now is deciding what to do with ABA. I like the thickness of that knife, and the SHBA is a BEAST.


I just realized that I now own one of each generation of the BA's: an SHBA, a BAIII, and a BATACLE. Cool...whodathunkit?
