Tough call. I have owned all but the Loco - the TR4 would get my vote if you don't see a comparable knife in the Kershaw Launch lineup that is a better deal. I traded away my TR4.3 because I decided a Launch 6 represented better value. Coming in at about $100 cheaper and using slightly superior steel (slightly, but still superior!) and having the same general amount of actual cutting surface (TR4 has a 4" blade but loses cutting surface to the choil, where the Launch has a choil-free 3.75" blade), and additionally having a lighter weight and a cooler firing button and more utilitarian blade shape... It wasn't exactly a difficult choice for me.

Basically, I would choose the TR4 but would actually choose a launch 6. You won't be disappointed by the Protech, though, if you were to choose that. I have had five Protech autos and each one was the definition of excellence.

... And the Protech's didn't? That was one of the few gripes I had about my Protech knives is the ubiquitous generic pocket clip. Kershaw/Kai will send you a free 0560 deep carry clip if you ask.

I have the TR4 and love it . . . Other than it is large for every day office carry.

Take a look at the Protech Whiskers. I have one of them coming this month and I can't wait!

If you wanna wear that "SMILE" we all get when we get a great toy, go for the Protech!

Smile everytime i fire this thing! I got the tr4. Its amazing in every way. ONLY critique is the anodizing grips.....alot.....it takes any color like from dirt on your hands or even your jeans and shows as darker spots. Soap or clp has made it clean again easily though.

The knife is really a heavy beast. Really glad i got it!

Im very new to collecting I actually only have 5 knives so im just chiming in for kicks .I live in Canada and id LOVE to have an opportunity to carry an auto. My vote ill be it a total novice one is for the protech all the way.
