There is often talk on this forum about using high vis para-cord wraps on knives to increase their visability, it seems TOPS knives has taken this to the next step ! I'm suprised that other makers have not done this before as it is quite practical even if they don't look as nice !!!!

It is a cool idea but they look like the 80s version. Maybe they can have Swatch make the sheaths.

Yeah I saw them and I like them:thumbup:

My only thing is they are like 100 bucks and I just can't see paying that much for essentially a spray painted blade blank:rolleyes:

If I may get on my high horse here for a minute is seems the knife industry would like to sell us on cord wrap and skeletonized handles so they only have to put about half the labor into them and then charge us the same price(or more sometimes:eek:) than a knife with a nice set of scales.

Seems to be sort of an instance of "the emperorors knives wearing no clothes":D

The fact that some knives these days are top dollar and have no sheath is bad enough. But wake me when the skeletonized blade/cord wrap fad is over:yawn:

Yeah I agree with you there !!!

I was also thinking that if they came with black handles etc then they would still look nice while they were in their sheathes and would not attract attention till you removed them !!!

Reminds me of the CheeseHead hats. Needs a big green Packers" G " on the side. :p

Well said...I do miss the days when I could buy a knife and carry it that same day...whats with the whole NO SHEATH thing??? Seems like a bit of a joke really when you look at the pricing...its so common place that I am kind of used to it though.

I got to handle one in Peru. Jeff Randall had one on the Amazon trip. TOPS makes some good stuff but always a little over priced.

Pretty cool looking, although I tend to agree with HD regarding todays knife trends.

I personally have enough love to extend to cord wrapped knives also, but...not for the same $ as a nice set of wood scales.

I've kicked around the idea of the Fast Axe for quite awhile now, but there's just something missing that simply....doesn't push me to over the edge to "Must have!"

For now it's still modified CS hawks, Bark Rivers, and my own cutty-pointy home spun atrocities.:D

Although I do have a Turner Forge tomahawk with a glow in the dark blue cord wrap. Pretty cool when I procrastinate that whole firewood gathering thing until night fall. (as I usually do...)

Thanks for the cool pics!

Let me clarify. I love the color. I could do without the blades. I personally don't care for TOPS stuff. The color is kicka$$ though.

No scales, No sheath, MO money...

But the finsh under the paint or powder coat probally isn't as nice either for MORE MONEY. rip off...... but thats just me. I likes'em shiney or satin, not black. :jerkit: Pat

Where did this " No sheath " thing come from ? TOPS knives do come with sheathes !

I'd rather a day glow set of scales and a satin blade. It is rare that the color of scales chips and flakes away with use.

Cord wraps turn me off-as to skeletonized blades-, and I'd rather a crappy sheath to no sheath. But, not gettign a sheath does give you the option to buy a sheath that you like, and not pay for the crappy one. To that end I have enough user knives (that came with sheaths) that I haven't bought sheaths for most that came without.

I've never been a fan of tops and these don't change my mind.
