Your best buy of 2015....

This year, I purchased a couple Opinels, a Case Sodbuster, and an HK Mini Axis, but my knife of 2015 is my Case Texas Toothpick in Bermuda Green that I bought on my honeymoon from Smokey Mountain Knife Works. It was my first Case, my first trip to SMKW, and, obviously, my honeymoon. It doesn't get carried often, but it will always have an incredible amount of sentimental value to me.

Condor Bushlore. dollar to dollar, I don't think I could have gotten a better outdoors knife for the money, or even at twice the price. I'll even go so far as to say that had i gotten my Bushlore before getting my BK16, I may never have gotten the Becker. Heresy, I know. The knife is just THAT good. The fact that it comes with a sheet nicer than knives twice the price is just gravy. I can't believe these things sell for under $40.

Folder: The tenacious, it cuts like a lightsaber

Fixed: Schf42, that blade is just amazing for the bucks!

This as been my first year collecting knives so I've enjoyed all of them. The XM18, 0562CF, T90, 0770CF and PM2 the black one have been my favorites.

It'd have to the the Anthracite sparrow grind XM-18 for me. Scored it direct and got a smooth CF scale and bronze hardware to go on it

Great thread topic Echoil!
I really like knives that are good deals for the prices.
1st place. Lw Manix2 s110v
2nd place CS American Lawman cts xhp
3rd place Kizer 403a1
Various Cold Steel andSpyderco knives battle for the three spots.

Probably either my XM18 or Strider SnG. Very different knives, each exceptional, I wouldn't want to get rid of either one.

Best knife hobby buys of the year? Probably the REK re-grind on my ZT 0808 or my Spyderco Sharpmaker. Best knife buy of the year? I'm pretty thrilled with my Vic Alox Electrician, actually. Best deal? My BK5 or BK39--so much value in these knives!

Buying experience, service from the company that brought it to market, design and overall quality of the knife, I have to go with the Smith and Sons (GEC) Mudbug.

For me my 2015 modern folder is my LionSteel SR2A. It has totally suppressed any urge to buy another modern folder while I carry it almost every day.

And a GEC 77 barlow red saw cut spear 1 blade for the traditional variety. Deep pocket bling.

Cold Steel Master Hunter in 3V. Great price, great knife, great steel. I still rotate my folders a bit, but it's increasingly rare that I reach for any fixed blade but the Master Hunter.

Honorable mention goes to the Spyderco Pacific Salt. Edge retention with the SE blade has been excellent so far and getting so much knife in such a lightweight package for such an affordable price is pretty darn impressive.

Best value: Mora Companion
-nuff said...

Biggest surprise: Kilimanjaro Vertice
-extremely low expectation for a $10 brand I never heard of before made in China knife were blown away. Quite possibly the best $10 folder I ever owned, (and my cheap a$$ has owned plenty).

Nicest: Buck Open Season Folding Skinner
(rosewood/s30v)
-very nicely made, fit and finish were top notch

Favorite: Kershaw Blur(s) in ELMAX
-what can I say, my favorite EDC comes out in my favorite Steel, peanut butter and jelly!

Best Overall Purchase(s): (total package)
Versatility & Function vs. Fit/Finish vs. Cost vs. Design
*Fixed - KaBar BK5 Magnum Camp $55
*Folder - Kershaw Scrambler $35
Both are exceptional values for the price paid...

Tops on the list without question, Phil Wilson South Fork in BU K390.
Second place goes to Fiddleback Forge Bushboot.

Fixed - ESEE-5 - excellent hard-use knife, love the look of it, great fit and finish
Folder - Cold Steel Talwar - now my EDC, this one feels great in the hand, looks mean and lives up to it, and i scored it for only $40

CRKT Eraser was a nice surprise for the money, good inexpensive knife of decent quality.
