I was gonna say the Rough Ryder micarta electrician

But then I remembered this oddball

And it's sturdy construction

I found out about what's called a "hacking knife", used by glaziers to remove putty from old windows during a refit. It looked like a proper "dumb stuff" knife, and I like that kind of thing.

This was a gift card purchase. Free ninety-nine.

Looking back at my 2022 purchase history, I purchased 10 knives! 😱
I did go on a Cold Steel panic buying binge, but here are my best:

3rd runner up: Ontario SP5 Survival Bowie. I haven't used it, or it may be higher on my list. It is well made in the USA.
2nd runner up: MAM Operario drop point friction folder. Well made, capable $10 knife. My review here
1st runner up: Buck 303 Cadet. I got one used for $20. Even new at $50, this is a great pocket knife. I gave mine to my best friend.
Winner: Beavercraft Sloyd Knife C4. This knife helped me crank out stocking stuffers. It's razor sharp and inexpensive. Made in Ukraine 🇺🇦

Well I don't buy cheapo knives however I did get a gen 2 busse battle mistress infi and a 1980's Al Mar Sere 6 for 80.00 each.
Holy $hit! I would’ve bought both too, and more if they had any, twice on Sundays.

Probably the best deal I got last year was this one for under a bill. I would not have paid full price for it, but at the price I paid it’s a fantastic beater.

I got that same RR marlinspike knife along with the yellow one from a guy in WV. Fit and finish is good for the price, and I wouldn’t mind having a couple more in blue denim, stag or amber bone.

I can remember when any chinese knife was automatically crap, but they’ve come a long way in the last few years.

I’m ordinarily a 3-blade stockman guy, and love my Schrade 8OTs and Buck 301s, but I also do some rope splicing and like the spike for that task.

The only issue I had was some gunk in the spike pivot area. I cleaned that up and all is fine. Nice knife for the price. I may give it to my son for his boat. Maybe?
