Your best defense?

I would kick him in the nuts or shins with my steel toed boots to bend him over to recieve a urban shark into his eyesocket.
Or something else a little more humilating.:D
 
i'm actually seriously considering a Spydie Matriarch for just this kind of scenario, to live in my WB - i'd carry another knife for general use in my pocket, since you don't pull out something like a Matriarch in public.

As an alternative - I wouldn't mind having a '98 Emerson Commander, but you said current production knives :)
 
First choice: would have been Custom Colt .45 Commander.
Has to be blade, most likely a folder since it's always there. I'd have to go with Glockman and go with the SIFU and a darn close second would be the Spyderco Civilian
 
Use a knife on an unarmed person? Sounds like a good way to get a ticket to prison. And only one person? I think that my hands are much better weapons than a knife. A knife would only get in the way and deploying it would waste precious seconds. Just walk away. Becides, the knives I carry are much too expensive to get blood on them let alone be be confiscated as evidence. Give my money to an an unarmed single person? That's not going to happen. Seriously, a knife is only effective as a defensive weapon to someone who has done some serious training. Pulling a weapon puts the situation in a whole new category. Keep your cool and walk away.:p :D :cool:
 
If he truly has no weapon, I would say my SAK with the corkskrew extended and used as a rib splitter. Why waste an expensive knife on fightin'? Otherwise a 24 oz. framing hammer would be my weapon of choice.

If I am overly concerned about something like this, I try to stash away my ASP - deploying it would likely end any confrontation quite nicely. If carrying an ASP would be too conspicuous, I carry my BM910 (M2-BT). I always have my small sebenza with me for EDC...but If I used it in such a situation, and the guy died, I would never see my knife again (it would be in an evidence locker forever). That's why I would carry an 'expendable,' yet highly capable folder in the BM 910.
 
Well, if my lovely sweet wife was with me...
We would split up and flank the jerk (he can't watch us both) and then we would kick the crap out of him.
My wife might even stick him a few times with her Delica while I kicked his nuts and his knees.

If I was alone I would be perfectly comfortable with what I'm carrying now: CRKT Bladelock.
But I would rather have my ASP baton with me.

I get very mad whenever I read or here about another case where someone is arrested for using a weapon to defend himself/herself from an attacker. The fact of the matter is, some people can kill you with their bare hands - they don't need a weapon.

A case in point: this morning I was watching the local news, and there was a report about a man on trial for murder, who got angry at his son's hocky match and beat to death the father of another boy there. A couple of years ago there was a case in a northern suburb of Atlanta, where a school bully beat to death another student after they got off the bus. In both case the weapons were bare hands, and in both case these were deadly weapons.

No, I don't think it should be legal to pull out a weapon and kill someone because they give you a threatening look. However, suppose that man at the hocky match and that school boy had defended themselves with a weapon. They would probably be in jail today. They obeyed the law, and as a result they are in the graveyard.

I do think there has to be some relaxation of the laws governing the use of weapons in self-defense. At the very least, it should not be illegal to retrieve a weapon when someone is threatening you. In the vast majority of cases, that is all that is necessary to presuade the attacker to go after someone else.
 
Well i dont carry any folders, a friend of mine had a bad experiance with one so i only carry fixed blades, And im never without my CS SRK(if going out late at night to a bad area i will also take my Ka-Bar 1245), so if that situation happened to me I would draw my SRK and tell the attacker that it would be in his best intrest to leave now, if he rushed me I would then proced to slash him up a bit, nothing major, then I would flee.

Do you live in Vancouver, B.C. or Vancouver, Washington? I guess in both cases it would be a good idea to flee, as you would no doubt be arrested.
 
I think I'll say a waved Psark cause it's coming out quick
maybe I'd have to change my answer to a serrated Spyderco Civillian. we all know how bad it hurt The Tactical One. seriously I think the Civillian really would cause trauma as well as have a huge "OH S**T" factor. The shape would make it easier to use when you couldn't make precision stabs. if we could just get one of those waved
 
I can't believe that I'm the first who would be thankful for the Madd Maxx in his pocket. Mine has a 5+ inch dagger blade and would quickly and effectively terminate the hostilities one way or the other.
 
yes you can have fixed blades, i could in theory run around with a katana if i had a GOOD reason to be doing so. However if i used a knife to defend myself when the person im defending from is unarmed i would probably be arrested, if however he was armed that would be a differnt story.
