I know you all are tempted to put other life-saving gadgets into the scenario, but count yourself lucky that in my scenario the box with your knife-of-choice isn't the box that Hanks decided not to open :eek:

I figure, he found a cave pretty quickly, so I wouldn't need a huge chopper to build a solid shelter.
He was there for a while and those skates took a real beating so I wouldn't choose a SAK.
He didn't bushwhack much (at all?) so I probably wouldn't go with a golok (as awesome as they are. Although, exploring the island would be a no-brainer after you realize rescue is not coming... hmm...
Golok would make finer work just too difficult.
A bushcrafter would be nice to make my own tools etc... but I still might want something beefier for all those danged coconuts :grumpy:

I think I might open that box and pull out my Ratweiler
 
I don't know...a simple Ontario machete would have made life a lot easier and the softer steel would be easier to sharpen...

Fallkniven S1. I dont own one, but it seems like it would fill the bill.Then, when I was rescued, I could add it to my line-up :D.
 
I figure if axes, hatchets and hawks are barred then my golok is a bit of a cheat, on that:

The Fällkniven 25th anniversary F1 on is out. In 3G and in a limited numbered run of 1000 worldwide I'd pick that, and retire it when I was done.

I'd love to see one of us knife nut/outdoors types open the box and find a crazy Gil Hibben Klingon fantasy blade. We'd never be able to show our faces again in the civilized world!
 
I would probably want a piece of Infi. Maybe a straight handled Battle Mistress. Although a slightly shorter blade length might be enough. I would rather have overkill, than find my self wanting more chopping, splitting etc power.
