I got my first Christmas gift at a family party last night. My uncle gave me a survival knife. It wasn't in the usual Rambo style, it looked to be based on the Buck survival knife (was that the Woodsman or Buckmaster). It was not super scary sharp, but I was surprised at how sharp it was out of the package. The serrations for "sawing" were different too, with a sort of V channel cut into them. I was surprised at the quality of the knife. Made in China, and, on the various stickers on the blade advising "BE CAREFUL, SHARP EDGE" :D, was a logo for GORDON. Never heard of this company before, I think my uncle picked it up at a Harbor Freight? Anyway, he is not a big knife guy, but appreciates a good one. BTW, I used my small Seb to open the package ;).

Oh yeah, I gave him an older electrician model folder, Kingston brand.

Post your loot. Christmas is right around the bend!

Nothing yet. The kids and grandkids all come over on Christmas Eve night, so we exchange gifts with them then. I expect I will get some gift cards, and probably a Buck folding knife from them. The wife and I are not exchanging this year, so Christmas morning won`t be the greatest. All I really want is to find that darn January issue of SWAT, it`s still not anywhere around here, I`ve been going out every two days to look, everyone still has the December issue.

I have recieved a Buck 119 from Wooden Chicken and a nice winter hat form my Mother

Nothing yet.nothing yet? Seems like you're getting the best gift of all - "the kids and grandkids all come over...." The kids and grandkids all come over on Christmas Eve night, so we exchange gifts with them then. I expect I will get some gift cards, and probably a Buck folding knife from them. The wife and I are not exchanging this year, so Christmas morning won`t be the greatest. When I'm out and about, I'll keep my eyes open for SWAT - January edition, although truthfully, I don't know if I have ever seen it up here.

As for material presents, I ordered a knife from Bryan Breeden. Looking forward to it very much. It will be quite similar to kgd's favourite Breeden, except a thicker blade (1/8"), little bit longer handle (4-1/8") and orange G-10 handle.

In my family we quit buying gifts for the adults, instead, we all kick in a few bucks and donate to some charity or other. The great thing about this is it helps others less fortunate, a little bit, enhances our Christmas spirit, it's never the wrong size or wrong colour, and I won't still be in the stores at 5:30 pm, Christmas eve still looking for something to buy. Also keeps the bankruptcy lawyers at bay.

We still get together on Christmas eve (party) and Christmas day (dinner), although this year, our Christmas day falls on Boxing Day (son in law working Christmas Day).

For me, Christmas is all about seeing the recipients eyes light up. I was told no more knives for some people, but I am still giving some. An Alaskan made ulu and a Victorinox classic for my mother, a Winchester single blade spey trapper for my father, a 40TR bali and AG Russell Scout for my brother, and a Queen small coco stockman for my baby sister. They are getting other gifts, one I am excited to see what my father thinks of, is an old Winchester booklet, from the 20's. I gave my one sister a semi custom bowie/Randall style from a local maker, for her to give to her boyfriend, he is a knife collector, but gets most of the fantasy stuff. I gave it to her, mainly for her. I am thinking about getting my other sister a good kitchen knife in addition to her gifts, she loves to cook.

Don't get me wrong, I still love to get gifts. However, as others have said, I enjoy spending time with the family at the holidays much more.

Oh yeah, which knife will you be using on Christmas morning? :D ;)

John, I will keep a lookout for that issue of SWAT tonight, I am picking up chruschikis (I think I spelled that right, my grandmother made them at the holidays, I should know how to spell it), and some sweet pepper relish at Wegmans. There is a bookstore on the upper level, and Wegmans has a pretty good magazine selection too.

I got my dad a Northwoods D2 Canoe with stag handle.

He and mom got me a Strider SMF! It will be for sure the pocket knife I carry for the rest of my days, a very special gift.

The girlfriend got me a range bag for my AR and Call of Duty:World at War(Xbox 360) and a little Lego Star Wars toy(I'm a nerd).

The main gifts I bought are: my girlfriend an ipod, my mom a Wii and my dad a nice pen.

For sure the best part is having the whole family together. Last year my daughter had to work, and one son in law was stuck out of state, he`s a truck driver. Tomorrow we start the baking (I`ve become quite the little homemaker :o), and Wednesday start the rest of the cooking. The grandaughters are at the fun age (4 and 5) and the grandson is 12. If I`m lucky I get to meet the youngest daughter`s boyfriend, should I be cleaning my guns or sharpening knives when I meet him? ;)

I am so lucky that I am able to afford new kit when I want it. I am not rich by any means - I have very modest wants - but I have gotten a lot of hiking / backpacking gear for myself in the last few months. I would be embarrassed if anyone got me anything for x-mas this year.

My wife bought ma a new Kabar a couple days ago at the gun show. She won't buy me a knife unless I pick it out.(she thinks I already have every knife model made):) I wish I did.;) The wife and Kids are getting JK knives. Kind of a camp/kitchen knife. The wife won't get hers until next month.(She couldn't decide which wood she wanted in time.

Lucky for me, all of my kids live within a mile of each other in Sioux Falls. We are going down to their places. I won't see the Grandkids this Xmas as they live in the other direction.

BTW I hope all of you folks have a great Xmas and get to spend it with your families.

I heard from a very reliable source that I may be getting a digital camera. This source said I could make do with a disposable camera and an old scanner :D, but hey.

My wife got me a KSF Adirondack pocket sheath. Fits my Mikro II and Surefire E1L perfectly! :D

My wife bought me a table-top drill press!! I can't believe it! That, and a nice piece of vegi tanned shoulder leather, a small bag of exotic leather scraps, and is taking me out to dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant next week-end! I found some of the books that she loves to read and bought 6 of them for her, a clip-on book light for reading on planes at night, and had a nice gem stone (I can pick them up pretty cheap when traveling in Cambodia and Burma,) made into a pendant for her. We're having a lucky Christmas this year!

Merry Christmas to one and all!

My wife got me one of these awhile back for another occasion. I have been using it to tote around my Mini Canadian and Vic Spirit.

I was mostly at a loss this year for special gift requests; I haven't a clue what I might be getting. I did hint around for a GEC #25 Barlow, so we'll wait and see . . .

Me and my Girlfriend just opened our gifts, she got me a Suunto MC-2 Global, which is an awesome surprise!
