If you could work with one of the traditional manufacturers what would your Special Factory Order knife look like? You could do any combination of existing patterns, blade styles, and handle materials.

I would create a set of GEC #25's with Bloodwood handles, sheepfoot blade, EO notch, and a small Gimp shield.

Basically a combination of...

Single blade clip 77 Washington jack red bone.

I'm not very creative.

Hmmm...that would be fun.

Mine would be a northfield 81 stock, burnt orange bone, classic cattle knife style shield, long pulls & swedges on all blades, crocus main blade others glazed no etch, double fluted bolsters like the nf 81's already have and coined nickel silver liners. That would be darn near perfect. I'd call it the oklahoma premium stock:D

An African Blackwood/Gabon Ebony GEC 83 (non-lockback) with Drop Point Main/Full Size Wharncliffe Secondary with a Corset Shield or an African Blackwood/Gabon Ebony Case Peanut.

GEC Ben Hogan long pull spear single blade in 440C, elk handles, double nickel silver bolsters, brass liners, stainless backspring, acorn shield.

Buck 301 Stockman, standard blade configuration, with 1095 or 5160 blades, checkered walnut scales, steel bolsters, liners and pins, Anvil shield.
Extra Large 5 inch closed 2 blade Sunfish, color case hardened bolsters and liners, browned or blued carbon steel blades, and back springs, Walnut scales, Brass or bronze pins and small starburst or acorn shield.

We need a Photoshop guru that could bring some of these ideas to life.

Maybe a GEC Grandaddy Barlow--perhaps the size of the Texas Camp/Cattle knife, or larger. Single blade is fine, maybe with one of those unobtrusive liner locks; if no lock, then a shorter pen or sheepsfoot secondary blade would be great. Either horse cut jigged bone or a deep, rich ebony... or even stag for a change--knotty and gnarly. I'd love to see a big ol' clip point on that, with a match strike long pull. If they make it like the latest round of 77s, it would be pinchable. Stainless or nickel bolsters, and a lanyard hole... perfect.

I'd go for a GEC #92 pattern Eureka jack in 440C with bark ram's horn handles, same long pull clip main as in the Washington jacks, with the coping secondary. And of course, keeping the wrap-around spring on the secondary.

Heck . . . I would just be happy if GEC would slow down and quit being so ADD so I could actually buy one.

Bring back the ebony handled Grinling Whittler and I would be there.

GEC 98 camp
- No Bail
- Natural Canvas micarta (bead blasted like the 85eo)
- Satin or blasted bolsters

66 slim with regular clip and sheepsfoot secondary

12 with sheepsfoot from wide end with lanyard tube (kind of a mini Fremont but not lol)

GEC #38 whittler in 440c and maybe a Wharncliffe main.
Schatt and Morgan #54 Coles whittler in ATS-34 with Italian jig bone covers

Large Stockman with D2 blades, convexed edges. Oval cut out nail nicks like on some Scagel folders. Nice rustic stag covers. - - Basically a knife like some made by Dave Shirley era Northwoods, but with D2 steel. And with nice fit&finish.

I'd like this at factory prices, but it'll likely need to be a custom for it to happen for me anytime soon.

First of all, it would have to be an SFO I could obtain and not have to go round in mad circles pre-ordering, maybe, possibly, then depend on the flipper driven secondary market.....OK? :D:thumbup:

This is a field of rich potential though, GEC 92 Talon 440c Spear: all stainless construction (no brass!) having the Eureka's Spear -it's slightly different from the Talon's, long pull Stabber Jack style, Rat-Tail but Barehead, Gimp shield or Prop, thick scales in Smooth Ivory Bone or caramel Corn Cob. Maybe coined liners or some discrete firework but not much! A simplified version of this would make a wonderful Forum Knife 17 just saying'

Here's a Eureka in Greenbone that I think is a decent carry

But wait, I'm greedy :D:D Let's use the forthcoming release of another batch of 38s to real effect. I do not fancy the Toothpick style skimpy Turkish Clip they're proposing, what a waste of a frame! :grumpy:No, lets have a top quality Penknife from them, two choices: Spear Master (I think if it went in the frame it would give a totally sunk-joint) Small Clip Minor, Rat-Tails, NS liners,Horsecut Jigged and Diamond shield, this is the carbon version. Stainless version, also Rat-Tails, Clip Master with match strike nick and small Sheepfoot Minor, Appaloosa Bone or that Oily Creek Bone they do, Small Bomb shield, or the Tidioute shield on the last 38s but without the lettering.

This ought to keep me going and hopefully light some other fires too:thumb:

Here's the 38 showing a nice large frame filling Clip, this is a wonderful frame for GEC to work on. So why waste it on a skimpy single blade version? Bizarre:confused:

either a TC LPC barlow, 48 single blade big clip, or 77 new LPC, with steel covers. i know its going to be heavy, but there are plans in motion for me to make aluminum scales for a possible recover

Will, it would be your SFO so you would probably get the first few sent to you directly from the factory. .

I agree that the 38 frame seems to call out for more than just one blade.

#22 Magnum with main clip and secondary coping, Northfield treatment, ebony covers, bar shield, rat tail bolster.
#66 wharncliffe/trapper (any variation thereof)
