Your Emerson Arch Rival

Silvanus- Cool!!
How much?? :D
Well, a good 'ole CQC7B wave, is back in the pocket.
Thank you, Ken.

Hi Gang! As you know, I usually EDC my HD7 or my Para D2. BUT... I received a Buck/Strider 881 about two weeks ago and this one has not left my pocket. This folder is a serious rival.
Who else wants to fess-up?

Wow, I never thought anyone would like those Buck/Striders, you got a rare one. I still have my B881-SPX-0 Mini Strider, it was my edc for a couple of years back in 05-06, well, it was my motorcycle tank bag knife; still has the factory edge, ATS-34 BOS Heat treated, the blade is a quarter of an inch thick, awesome little knife, a worthy contender to my Horseman, but I prefer the Horseman or the CQC8. Good choice though, as far as I can remember they were the first Bucks that really caught my attention, even though I still have my 110, a classic. Good post.

Thanks man.^
Can you post a pic of folder?
Yea, my 881 will always get pocket time.

Sorry for the delay, it seemed like I had all the children in Tijuana come by to get candy, I thought I had seen it all but some of their costumes were very unique, anyway here is the mini strider, the last pic is for you to compare the size with some other blades

I forgot, it is not .25" thick, it is more like .177" around 4.5 mm, still pretty thick and stout, the lock up was that late since I got it, it has remained there, I don't use it anymore. The blade is 3" long and the whole in the open position is almost 7" here is another shot

I have sold off my little collection of Spyderco's, but will fess up I still have my original Spyderco Rescue Jr. that I have had maybe 12-15 years. I am not sure I will ever part with the Rescue Jr. but most days I either have my CQC-7 or Commander in my pocket, both were ordered with serrations.

Honestly the Emerson's are built more rugged than the any of the Spyderco I have owned. I kepted debating on buying a Spyderco Para Military II, or a first Emerson over a year ago. The more I compaired the Para II, and the CQC-7 side by side I decided to go with the Emerson because of the option of having serrations, and the Emerson jst felt better in my hand.

The Spyderco Para II is really a pretty knife, but I want a knife to be a tool, not beauty queen. JMO

I tend to agree with you, even though I don't have a cqc7 yet I still have my cqc8 and the ergonomics are superb, the same for the horseman I have, but I still carry the PM2, that s30v steel is awesome, but there is a reason Ernie keeps using 154cm in everything he makes. Good point.

Well I would own a few more models of Emerson's if they were available for us wrong handed peeps. I do hope and keep say if emerson decides to expand their "Left Handed Models", i hope the Mini 15 is the next Emerson to be offed in a true left handed model.

Oh I see, man, it's go to be kind of tough operating these with the left hand, at least they have that disc (which I think is awesome), I think lefties should rally up and ask Ernie to make some, he's a gentleman and I think he would accommodate you guys. They say being left handed is a sign of being highly intelligent, I have a few leftie friends and you guys are smart for sure
