Your Emerson Story

I kept seeing the Benchmade 970 in catalogs and I really liked it. I finally picked up a 975 S in 1996 but had to sell it a few years later. Since then I've got a Folding Karambit and replaced the 975 S with a Super CQC-7BW.

A few years ago (around 2002-2003) I was reading the Rogue Warrior novel series (look them up, they're great) and the protagonist said he was given a CQC 7B directly from Ernie. So I had to look it up. Fell in love with it. Have yet to buy one. I was in high school and now I'm in college so I haven't had the money to spend on one. I'm actively trying to fine some expendable money to grab one - we'll see. On a side note I'm also dying to get my hands on a Strider Rogue Warrior blade.

Hahaha hangin around you, Lycosa, is going to get expensive. trust me im working on the cqc7....but i want a BM osborne too. so many knives, not enough money.

I've gone my rounds with Emersons. I've owned and sold four Commanders, a CQC-7 A, B, La Griffe, P-Sark, and two CQC-13's. Some of them I wouldn't want back. Others, like my La Griffe, P-Sark, and both my 7's are frequently missed.

I've often beat up on Emerson for using outdated materials, locks, and having high prices. Now, as I see and sell more and more knives with double locks, springs, wierd out of place curves, and steels it takes ten belts and a pay check on the electrical bill to re-sharpen I'm beginning to appreciate the Emersons more and more as knives that have everything you need, and no BS marketing frills. Also, I appreciate that they're one of the few companies that's NOT going to China. (The Hardwears are obviously Taiwan, but that's a damn small slice of the pie, and it's still not China)

I just got an A-100 that I'm really lovin'. I'm thinkin' I've got a few Emersons to go. a Super CQC-7 is next on the list.

RWS---Thanks. I felt the same way as you do. I even purchased an HD-7 and then decided I like the CQC better. There is nothing like an Emerson knife---Nothing.

My first "Emerson" was the poor, crusty Benchmade at the top of the pic. Bought it at a gun show, I think - don't know how many years ago - because it had the best-feeling handle I'd ever encountered on a folder, and because the disk opener works better for me than a Spyderhole. (Blade studs don't work well for me at all.) I carried it every day for a long time. I don't generally like Tantos, but the Benchmade is still my all-time favorite folder, though I've graduated to Waved knives now, after a several-year dalliance with mega-folders. The Kerambit is my current EDC, and I think a fine backup to the ever-present .45. (Well, almost ever-present.)

My interest in Emerson Knives struck me while back while reading Rouge Warrior. Richard Marcinko spoke of Emerson knives on several accounts. My father was in to collecting knives, mainly custom types. I asked him about Emerson knives and he said WTF is that? Well that inspired me to find and buy my first Emerson, well it was a Bench Made CQC7 through a mail order catalogue, this is prior to the internet really kicking off. Well, here I am with over 10 different models of Emerons knives, and still searching for more. Emerson makes a great knife, my American Express Card, I do not leave home with out it.

the first eki i ever had was a 2001 specwar folder . still have it and use it hard. ive got at least five other models now the 8 being my favorite . good thread guys.

I thought Emersons were overpriced (a linerlock, 154CM blade, boring black G10). Plus I didn't really like the "combat" styling (been out of military 40 years), just didn't need to stick anyone now.:)

Then I saw the A-100, simple, straightforward, clean, just had to have one.
I liked the feel and the "just right" weight. There were some "bugs" in it that I had to clear up before I was frendly with it, though. As in, the detent lug was not bent enough to capture the blade closed, the blade was not ground thin enough at the edge to cut as I like it.

I have this knife moded now just about like I feel it should be(will post pic's when I am done,...soon). I really like the ti liners and the lock. The 154CM gets really sharp I love CM. I now like Emersons and they are worth the $$.
The clip works great(on most knives, I make another).
:thumbup:Emerson

I picked up a Snubby about a year ago because I wanted a really tough knife that would be legal wherever I went - the blade is well under 3 inches, and it's super tough, so it fit my bill.

After a while, however, I started to dislike the wave and the grind wasn't as designed for cutting as I would have liked, a little thicker than optimal. So.....I sent it to Tom Krein and it's my favorite again :). He took the wave off and perfected the edge.

I'm not sure how I found them as a brand.

Hey bro---Thanks for the story.
You got a custom Emerson now, imo.

I got started when a customer had a half serrated mini commander and I really liked his and decided that with my tax return in 08 that I would buy one and since then I have acquired an CQC 8 and love that knife also.

The coolest part about Emerson knives is they just feel so sturdy and well made. I discovered Emerson Knives about two months ago when I decided to add a blade to my EDC gear. I ended up with the CQC 14. (Looooove it!) It's so nice feeling and ergo for me. I have since purchased a CQC 15, a training karambit and some dvd's. I just ordered a real karambit, along with a t-shirt, from Emerson, they seem to be backordered everywhere else. I plan on buying another CQC 14 for my gf, she loves the thing too. I also plan on buying another CQC 15 in satin finish and maybe a CQC 11. I think I'm in trouble here!! Glock and Emerson, my two favs!

Better than playing the slots, least you come home with something in your pocket. :p:D

Thanks, guys.
The Emerson's just lock onto the hand.
There's nothing like an Emerson.

Lycosa QUOTE: "There's nothing like an Emerson".
