I have all sorts of knives from small to moderately sized, folders and fixed. When it comes to the one knife that always inspires confidence, it is a Greco folding Falcon. It is not the best slicer, or the best edge holder or the most comfortable, or the flashiest; yet it always satisfies. I find it interesting that a knife with its “kind of rough finish” and realatively low cost always pleases me. What are your thoughts for a never fail knife? Do you have one you reach for, not for polite company, but no matter what, always works and won’t give out. All I need to do now is find something similar, but with a smaller profile. As always, thanks and all the best.

Good choice. I've got the Falcon and a Raptor, the hawksbill version.

I normally carry a large tanto Sebenza, but there are limits to what I'd be comfortable using that for. I also got an ER Nemesis, which probably fits the idea of "Failure is not an option". I also think my Buck/Strider would hold up under most conditions.

But what I've decided I really like, and keep handy, is the MOD CQD. It is about as bombproof as a folder gets. I know the Striders are tough, but I'd rather not pay those prices for a super-beater! :D One nice point about the CQD is the smaller version -- the CQD Mark II. I can carry that for a totally durable knife when size is a factor, or go back to the fullsize CQD otherwise, and I'm still doing the same things, relying on the same muscle memory.

Both my Tramp and my Griptilian are users. I would like to think that a Howler is in my future and will also be a user.

Benchmade! My 721s is my EDC "utility" folder, and I KNOW that it will never fail me. My 805 is my EDC "defensive/offensive" folder, and I KNOW that it will never fail me, should I ever need to "bring it into play". Both of these folders are "hell-for-stout".

I'll go with a Greco as well.....

A Greco M.S.T............."Bad to the Micarta"......so to speak.

Busse Steel Heart E

Nothing else I have can stand up to some of the things that I have and would put this one through.

Fixed: Randall Model 1 6"
Folders: Small Sebenza and Vic Sodier

The folders go with me everywhere and the Randall goes on all outdoor adventures. None of these knives have ever failed at anything I've asked of them. ;)
