Why buy it, when you can make it right?

I am planning to make some large choppers, for friends, family of course myself.:) I would like to look at different knives, and pick out the features I like the most, and incorporate them into my own design.

So what is your favorite chopper? Let’s say blade length over 9”. Please include pictures.

I’ll start with some knives I am looking at:

Becker Brute (my favorite chopper)
Kershaw Outcast (my second favorite)
Scrapyard Chopweiler
Ontario RAT RTAK2
Busse Battle Mistress
Fehrman Final Judgment
Fehrman Extreme Judgment

Your list is pretty good for me.

I'll also add:

Swamprat Ratweiler
Swamprat Chopweiler [It's a Rat, not a Dog]
Scrapyard DogFather
Busse SARSquatch [new ... a medium-sized chopper]
Busse Basic 9 [and maybe also the Basic 7]
Various HI Khukuris ...

Those are the obvious ones. A number of custom makers also make awesome choppers, when they're in the mood (Siegle, Hossom, and many more).

I know ... I violated the 9" rule in a few places above. I'm difficult that way.

A few useful pics:

Some Busse Battle Mistresses, various types (an exercise for the student):

Hey its me your long lost brother, finally we have been reunited!

I'll take something like an FBM:D

I have a George Lainhart(spell?)/United cutlery collaberation knife. It is called Spec Ops Jungle Machete. 9" ATS-34 blade. 3/16 thick. Kraton type handle with s.s. thong hole tube. No serrations. I love this knife. I even have a custom Scott Hendryx Kydex sheath that was made for it.

Thanks for the input. Please Keep it coming.

Sorry about the SwampRat / Scrapyard mix up...I don't get to play with the really expensive, hard to find toys too much.:( One of the reasons I am looking at making them myself.

I would go with either
Tramontina 12" or 14" machete
Rat 7 even though it's a little light for doing it.

Dave Wessner at Kelsey Creek Knifeworks..........look him up.....10.5 inches of A2 convexed...........chopping machine.
